airplane noise in foxhall village?

It’s a total dealbreaker. Just buy in a neighborhood away from the flight path.

Agree. Don’t let dishonest owners and agents shame you into buying in these neighborhoods under the flight path.

Noise, pollution, huge health risks particularly for kids. Just no to Foxhall, Palisades etc. It’s really a shame but they’ve been trying to solve it for years and it only gets worse

cute neighborhood we always liked and would go to open houses there but post-2014 NextGen it became a problem. Like PPs have said, we sat outside and inside there one summer and heard the intense noise what felt like every 30-90 seconds, not a whole lot better than being at Gravelly Point which our kids used to enjoy. Everyone has different standards, but for us it was so disruptive that it'd ruin any outside BBQ party or kids play time. And the growing literature on airborne aerosolized jet fuel exhaust falling to the ground these days is something we werent following but that sounds convincing

100% agree.

I mean it’s not far off Gravelly Point. You can literally read the lettering on the planes above the houses in Foxhall. It’s a disaster. The difference is that people go to Gravelly Point and then leave, but you can’t leave your house.

That’s a big fat no

Anonymous wrote:The upcoming changes that FFA is implementing should improve the noise situation in Foxhall as they are moving one navigation point further west and will be discouraging planes arriving from the north from flying directly over the neighborhood. I don’t think anything changes about departures yet, but it seems to be on the agenda.

There is nothing on the agenda for departures over Foxhall.

The slides summarizing the upcoming changes indicate that they will start reviewing the departure patterns. It might take years but they are planning to look at it.

😂
Meanwhile, buyer beware

Planes have to fly someplace, and in DC this is it.

What slides? I only see ideas for departures to the south not to the north.

They were linked in one of the threads here. I think about more noise to Moco. There they show the direct path over Foxhall for arrivals which will be discouraged following the implementation of the currently proposed changes. They also mention they will be revisiting departures.

Word!
Enough said — same applies to the Palisades as a whole

The Palisades citizens association website send you to the planesoverthepalisades which clearly states:

“The 2015 FAA NextGen project created concentrated NOISE SEWERS over the Palisades. The enviornmental danger from noise sewers are comparable to health dangers from water, air, or ground pollution. Catch up on past issues and background regarding efforts to abate noise pollution.”

It’s not a secret.

Which is why it is funny when our shouty DCUM friend keeps insisting that homeowners should put the noise in the disclosures when selling. Everyone knows about it and it is in fact already reflected in prices. Otherwise Foxhall/Palisades would be even more expensive.

Hahaha. 😂 I thought you couldn’t “hear anything”?

Are you a realtor?
Anonymous
May or may not be. If I were a realtor and was not incentivized to lie to you, I would steer you far far away from the Palisades, Foxhall and parts of Kent.

I don't think the question is whether one can hear it. It is clearly there. Not everyone is bothered by it though.

Really? But you have like 2 to 3 million reasons to lie?
