Are the Wootton, Whitman, Churchill, BCC, QO, RM schools too difficult?

That should not and does not happen. My child is in middle school. She will be 13 when she enters as a Freshman. I do not want her around 20-21yr old creepers like this.

Sorry, this is not normal. IB can only cover up a problem school so much.

I don't think you know much about what goes on in high schools.

You are right. I forgot it is normal to be 18 and a sophomore.

Do you think that Richard Montgomery (and the other high schools where Those People go) is the only high school that has 18-year-old sophomores? Do you think that Richard Montgomery (and the other high schools where Those People go) is the only high school where students conduct sexual activities at school?

We chose to not live in W district on purpose. Yes, every school has its issue, but it seems that at these wealthy schools, there is a lot more drugs since most of the kids have $, and the parents just bail them out. I feel like "affluenza" is prevalent here.

read the thread on the US/News World report Best High school ranking. there are postings about these W schools and the issues there. I know a few people that went to Wootton. They hated it because of the cliques and conceited attitude. Of course, there are issues at the non-W schools like fighting and such, but at least at those schools, the kids don't usually get bailed out by their parents. So, there at least, kids are being punished and not getting away with bad behavior as much.

RM has various SES students, and it is quite large. I know a parent whose son goes there. He said there are groups for any type of person; it's easier to find "your people" in that school. And there are lots of kids there that take AP but there are a fair number of kids that don't. Your DC will be able to find a group to fit in both socially and academically in these larger non-W schools.

You sound very insecure and jealous. The W schools are big enough that kids with diverse interests find their place or people. They just have better academics and fewer kids engaging in misconduct. Did you read about the 18 year old sophomore at RM arrested for having sex in a hallway with a 14-year-old? Oy vey.

Did you hear about the Churchill kid that overdosed and had crack and guns. Or the suicide this week in another W school?

Post links please

You can google hockey player umcp Churchill.

The suicide is not in the paper but should be in the obituary today or tomorrow. Why would there be an article about it?

NP here. I didn't see any article that indicated the UMCP / former Churchill death was a suicide. I assumed it was an accidental overdose; he had several kinds of drugs in his apartment. Very sad.

Churchill alum was an overdose

Another W had a suicide last week.

Lots of drugs in every single school and every single moco school has the same curriculum sorry

Which school do the two anti-Semitic, swastika spraying vandals go to? Churchill?

I feel like my Whitman kids are very prepared for college... More prepared than I ever was. Whatever pressure the kids feel is self-imposed. I would much rather my kids be around motivated learners than the opposite. I feel lucky to be able to send my children to Whitman. Don't put your own fears on your children.

Stuff like this happens everywhere. Mental illness rears its head around this time in peoples' lives. There was a horrendous drunk driving accident or 3 when I went to school elsewhere in the county. Shit happens no matter where kids are in school. Don't deceive yourself.

QO too difficult? Seriously?!?

^^ I am so sorry that your kids go there and you feel bad about it. But listing QO along with these other schools does not fool any MoCo resident.

Deleting your post won't help either.

+1

Someone is trying hard to make QO happen as the equivalent of the other schools. Major fail.

RM became a magnet because it was very poor before - you don't want to return to that ... It wasn't a good place to be back then.

I'm sure many on DCUM are shocked that a child at a 'W' school would be arrested, much less for something like that.

Many, but not most.
