Really? People who actually live in this area are boggled?

I think so? I mean, I live in this area, and I continue to be surprised by the prices in Arlington, as nice as Arlington is. Maybe we are more surprised by the enthusiasm over a house that is pretty modest except for its pricetag?

I think some people, myself included, are enthused by the charm & character that can be hard to find in this area. A little updating would go a long way.

(Hope they keep the sink!)

Love that show!

I think the house has some nice classic features. However, I could never live in a home so compartmentalized and choppy. We used to live in an older home and the first thing we did was started blowing walls out and converted a 4th bedroom into a walk in master closet and a much needed large modern bathroom.

I would not embark on such an aggressive renovation on a million dollar home.

I would tear it down and piss on the rubble.

+1 Great old home!

What flippers do is a small crime against humanity.

And it's official: too much money has burnt the taste receptors of the average DCUM poster. This house is beautiful.

It is not beautiful. It is a boxy box. The bedrooms upstairs are boring as shit.

There isn't a master bedroom or bath.

Tiny bathroom upstairs for everyone to share

That kitchen is bad

The rads everywhere no central AC ughhhh

I am sure some idiot will pay 950k to buy it and curse the ground of arlington in 2 years.

This looks a living hell, paying 950k and living like that.

In your dreams this house will only sell for $950k. After the bidding war it will top $1,000,000 and the renovations will top $400K

Sad state of affairs, the world laughs at America

I love it, but I love Foursquares. The porch is amazing.

This type of housing was never intended to service the upper middle / lower rich of America. Very odd things going on in Arlington.

Love it, OP! If I had the money to spend on reno that purely a want and not a need, I'd pull out those painted white built in shelves in the library and replace with beautiful stained chestnut shelves that matched the moulding in the rest of the house. That'd be gorgeous.

Also love the kitchen style.

Some nice landscaping would go a long way. It currently looks like a blank slate (not a lot of bad stuff that needs to be pulled out), so you could just go to town adding beautiful plantings and lawn.

Yes, it is truly amazong that a house built in 1920 doesn't have walk-in closets

OP, it is lovely.

I like the house. I'd probably blow out the wall between the two bedrooms on the left and add a bath and walk-in closet to make a nice master suite with a little porch. Then you'd have 3 bedrooms upstairs (decent-sized ones) and you could use the main-level bedroom for a guest room or au pair room.

The neighborhood is great, and the wood trim is nice. I wish I had a front porch like that!

Location, location, location.

Nothing is amiss in the basement. House is probably owned by an older couple with adult children. Back in the day, folks didn't finish the basement unless they needed extra room.
