Polarizing Arlington house (I bet someone is going to call it a sshack, but I love it)

Btw, I live in a 1936 Cape in Lorton with radiators PLUS central forced air heat and a/c. We much prefer the feel
Of the radiator heat, and we love the option of A/C when we want it.

I've lived with both forced hot water (radiator) and forced hot air heat. There is NO comparison. Radiator heat is far, far superior. Why people of means don't demand it in their homes is one of life's great mysteries.

I don't think it's a SS at all. It is the exact same layout as my grandmother's house off 16th Street in DC. It's been 30+ years, but looking at these pictures brings back great memories. Loved the sleeping porch and it even had the same stove.

Bedrooms are tiny, no walk in closets. Sharing one bathroom with a tiny pedestal sink gets old real quick. That kitchen is horrendous and has no counters. This has to be a joke or troll post.

I love it!

I love it too, if only I could live through or be willing to remodel the kitchen and add a bath upstairs. Love the porch and wood trim!

I feel there is some realtor sock puppet n this thread.

It IS a cute house, the thing is, it would never, ever sell for more than 300k in most of the country (and I think that's possibly a stretch), and I think that's what boggles a lot of people's minds.

Really? People who actually live in this area are boggled?

Though I'd like to add another bathroom upstairs, take out the wall paper, restain the painted trim in the upstairs bedrooms, and finish the basement. Then it would be perfect for me. Except I wouldn't pay that much money for it, but then again I wouldn't pay that much money for any house.

I think so? I mean, I live in this area, and I continue to be surprised by the prices in Arlington, as nice as Arlington is. Maybe we are more surprised by the enthusiasm over a house that is pretty modest except for its pricetag?

Beautiful home and really hope whoever buys it doesn't rip the soul out of the home in the name of "updating".

Does anyone ever watch Rehab Addict on HGTV? I feel like this is the kind of house that she would love to renovate and update, although it's actually in decent shape as opposed to some of the places that she buys and flips.
