A friend of mine was in a similar situation as you. She wanted answers related to genealogy and health, and she wanted to know about other siblings. She already accepted that he wasn't a part of her life and she wasn't going to ask why or look for answers about their relationship (or lack there of). She asked to meet him to get specific questions answered and basically it was like an interview. She got tons of information about health and relatives and walked away again. I sure there was a little part of her that wanted to hope that somehow in that meeting, he would say something meaningful but he didn't and she was okay with that. She didn't go to meet him as her 'father' but rather as a man who could answer questions she had. She is really glad she did it as it gave her a great deal of info about herself that she had wanted to know. |
