What is the most overrated area (neighborhood, town, etc) in the DC metropolitan area?

I get why some people don't like it, but it truly was a wonderful place for us when our daughter was young. All the trails and pools and places to play came in handy. And it was close enough to all the amenities we needed.

+1000 If anything, underrated

Close to enough to amenities but really, really, really, really, really far away from DC.

It's sanitized and boring. Gives children a false sense of reality.

+1. Ugh. Hate it.

I can see hating the corner of Wisconsin and M Streets. But there's much more to it than the shopping strip. And it's pretty wonderful.

It's inconvenient and all the best restaurants are elsewhere now. Overrated based on the 80s and 90s cache that lingers for a very few.

not everyone's life in this area revolves around the city. And not THAT far if you're going at off hours/on a weekend.

again, if our jobs were in downtown DC, we wouldn't have picked there to live. But we worked elsewhere and getting to DC daily wasn't an issue.

I'm not talking about restaurants. I'm talking about the quiet streets, the interesting architecture, the old churches, Dumbarton Oaks, Book Hill, the library, Volta pool, the quiet places to sit on a bench and read a book, etc. Walking around and exploring. It's great for that.

wait, what part of this are do YOU live in, then? Because the only parts that I can think of that don't give kids a false sense of reality are the 'burbs that people generally REFUSE to live in...you know, like PG County.

I love Georgetown, Mount Pleasant, Capital Hill, AU Park, Cleveland Park (P.S.: and live presently in none of these neighborhoods). No clue why one what would make someone consider them "overrated".
