Why is Caillou Bald and is he delayed

My 3 year old told me that Caillou always listens to his mom, is nice to his sister and never has to go to time out for being in trouble. Bald or not, delayed or not, that's the kind of role model I want DC to have!

Also, people calling him whiny clearly never sat to actually watch the show. He behaves just like any other preschooler I know. He's polite and learns his lesson.

The whole show is portrayed based on his POV that's why adults don't get it. Kids get it though. My children love him and we grown ups too.

This. He learns and demonstrates great problem solving skills. He talks through it all so children can clearly understand. It's annoying to parents but great for kids.

why do you let your kids watch this? My kids have no clue who Cailou is. I was warend about this show and never exposed them to it. Evne if I had I would now just tell them "we no longer get that channel"

Notice how the cartoon is in a cloud? Caillou is in a coma.

He is clearly in a coma while recovering from a brain tumor. The clouds around the show are symbolic of him being in a dream state.

His dreams are framed by his experiences before treatment and the brain tumor affected his gross motor skills and cognitive functions.. This explains him being relatively "slow" and moderately annoying.

Y'all mean.

My preschooler always misbehaves after watching caillou. Caillou is so annoying and is always misbehaving or having a tantrum. Every time I look he's ignoring what his parents ask him to do. We stopped letting her watch it and watch more of peppa pig now.

One of my children had tons of hair from birth, the other did not get any of substance until after age 2.

Chill guys. If you don't like Caillou, don't watch it. The Caillou hatred on DCUM is similar to the "Not a fan of Chuck E. Cheese" posts...parents missing the obvious point that these things are for KIDS.

I read a tweet once that said Caillou is bald because he doesn't deserve hair. Or love.

I think Caillou is undergoing cancer treatment and his mom is pregnant with a baby who will provide bone marrow and stuff since Rosie isn't a match. Like that cheesy book with the sisters.

C'mon, folks. AM I the only one who thought Caillou was bald and whiny because he had cancer? I had this whole backstory worked out whereby his parents put up with his whiny little ass because they felt so bad about everything he had to go through -- with cancer and all.

Calliou = whiny brat. Hearing that voice puts my teeth on edge. My kids hated that show.

OMG. I felt the same. I always thought that they will do a reveal one day or have the friendly "Uncle O. Logee" (oncologist) send him a special present for meeting a milestone or something. I felt he was developmentally delayed and whiny because he was in the hospital most of the time. I felt that Rosie was better behaved, easier to deal with and the parents paid less attention to her. The parents also looked tired and frumpy and I always chalked that to the fatigue of dealing with childhood cancer.
