Will Schools Be Opened tomorrow Tuesday March 4th?

I don't think they stop plowing at dusk..

They probably keep plowing, but I doubt they can shovel.

School parking lots are lit. I saw them doing sidewalks with these ride on golf cart like things. Pretty easy work.

I think it is so lame they don't have a protocol about getting the lots, busses and sidewalks of the schools done. It stopped over 3hrs ago and they still have another 13hrs to make a decision. I would go and shovel my kids school. It is 6" of snow. 15+ hours is plenty enough time to get the schools ready. If the northeast and Midwest can do it, so can we.

If closed, it may be because of ice. Slushy snow will freeze tonight.

Um, yes, I know that, but MCPS, AACPS, Howard County and PGCPS are all closed including administrative offices. Remember this is DC Urban Moms. I'm assuming there aren't a lot of parents here from Cecil or Garrett counties. Maybe, they'll have all the custodians (who have regular union contract hours) come out to the parking lots at 6 pm to clear off the parking lots, but I doubt it.

Remember that roads habe to be clear enough for all the building services employees at each school to be able to get to the schools to shovel in the first place. My guess is that most will be closed tomorrow because I doubt they are calling staff in to clear parking lots right now. Of course, with MSA already one day behind, anything could happen!

I saw them plowing my son's MCPS elementary school parking lot during the day of the Feb 13th storm, of course it snowed a few inches later that day and negated all the work. If building services employees could get there in a foot of snow that day, I would hope they can get there in 5 inches of snow and prepare the schools today.

It stopped snowing at 2 pm today, they have all afternoon and night to prepare.

The roads are going to be terrible. I don't know how they can open.

Can we, as a people on DCUM, please put an end to using this bullshit reason for clearing the roads in the DC area?

If admin offices are open, then admin staff like principals still report to work at schools, and day care programs located in school buildings are open. The school parking lots still need to be clear for admin offices to be open.
