Driving barefoot or with one leg up on the seat

Anonymous
I always wear my shoes when I drive. One time the bottom of my shoes was wet and when I had to brake, my shoe slipped off the pedal and I couldn't get it back in place fast enough to prevent an accident. In that specific instance, I might have been better off barefoot.

My cousin does not regulary. It is nonchalance.

Feet on dash is hugely dangerous. I did this all the time until I read some articles about the horrific injuries resulting from this (articles all indicated result would have been minor injury had the person not had feet on dash). I do occasionally drive with left foot on the seat because it's comfortable. Don't know the statistics on dangers of that?

So tacky

I don't think it's tacky or trashy.

I am sure it's more dangerous in case of an accident. At least the foot on dash part. Maybe not if it's on the seat in the half-criss cross apple sauce style. We really need a better word for that style of sitting, as "criss cross apple sauce" sounds ridiculous.

But also to me it feels more dangerous in terms of my own reaction time. I don't feel I could respond as quickly and effectively to a sudden obstacle if I had one foot on the dash (even though I don't need that one for the pedals. Therefore, i really never do it when I'm driving, though I frequently do it when I'm in the passenger seat.

If I am on a long drive on a long boring stretch of highway I will absolutely put my foot on seat to stretch a little. Otherwise when I get out of the car I will be so stiff

I have a standard and therefore need both feet, and I find driving barefoot quite uncomfortable. So no,I don't get it either.

My kid is only 1. I do remember Indian style, of course.

This. If I am wearing flip flops or any other style that can easily come off, I always remove them when driving. If they were to slip off, they could get in the way off or jam they pedals.

When I see it I think it is dangerous, but boy is it sexy!

https://www.reddit.com/r/NoStupidQuestions/comments/2qbqwm/why_is_it_considered_so_bad_to_drive_using_both/

"Driving with one foot on each pedal respectively drastically increases your chance of accidentally braking/accelerating when you panic, which makes you more likely to get into a car accident. A 'Two Footed Panic' is a thing.
Also, pressing both at the same time damages your car, turns on your brake lights, and wastes gas. You have to have one foot completely off the brake or accelerator before pressing the other one, and by only using one foot, you ensure this. If you use both feet, then you might accidentally hit both at the same time. Also, your brake lights being on confused other drivers."

Is this even at discussion here? Driving an automatic with both feet?! I would much rather see you with one leg out the window than your stupid left foot on the brake. Only complete imbeciles would drive like that.

I only drive barefoot if I'm wearing flip flops. I'm afraid that one might slip off and get stuck under the pedal, but I've seen people drive like this before......but whatever

It's illegal to drive barefoot. I wouldn't be comfortable anyway.

One foot on the dash? Not sure if I could do it physically lol.

I can see propping one foot on the seat but I'm one who would worry about safety.
