Oh boo hoo. Come to think of it, we live in a place where it snows. So, let's lobby for laws requiring snow tires on automobiles Nov. 1- March 30. Other places do it. And don't you dare whine about the poors - if they can't afford snows they can't afford their cars. |

Main roads were fine, but neighborhood roads slippery.
My DD was 5 minutes late to her school and when I dropped her off things were in control in the building with meaningful morning work going on. Our school was understanding of staff and students who took a little longer, but had things in place to cover. All the busses and people on the roads getting kids to school are not helping the road crews treat the roads. Tough call today. 2 hour delay probably not enough and by noon all should be clear. Families can always make their own decisions, if you feel it's too dangerous, don't go out. |

You can't make everyone happy. My kids got off to their schools just fine this morning.
Use your own judgment. If your roads are bad stay home or wait. You can't pass that responsibility off to the schools, ultimately its your call. |
That's a good point -- many teachers, especially some of the younger ones with young families -- live pretty far out of town. |
| I couldn't get to my DC's school in my lightweight little car. Secondary and tertiary roads are a mess. Not everyone drives a big AWD SUV and some of the drivers who do sem oblivious to those who don't. |
If it did not happen to me... it did not happen.

Bunch of DRAMA QUEENS you all are. Keep your kid home and stop whining like little babies. Many people got their precious ones to school just fine and lived to tell it. How dare they post on DCUM? Please only post about New Englanders doing 360's in 1-2" of snow from now on. |
Well I guess they should have left for work or school an hour earlier then since everyone knew the forecast. It is called "being prepared." |
| Wife just pulled into garage, said 270 wan't moving... Kid r getting 'our' snow day....would take forever to get to gtown at this rate... |
It's called daycare opens at a set time and doesn't open an hour earlier just because you need to leave an hour earlier to get to work. DD's teacher has kids under 5 and lives pretty far out. There was no way she was going to make it on time unless she brought her kids in with her. Delays help a lot with the logistics of having a full staff when the bell rings. |

| It took us an hour and a half to do a drive that normally takes 30 minutes. Luckily DC was cheerful about being late and they weren't marking kids tardy yet when we got there, 25 minutes late. |
How is it a lie PP? I left at 7:10am and took Exit 6 onto 270. 270 HOV to Westlake Exit, Fernwood, Bradley to Wilson. Dropped daughter off at 7:48am. School starts at 8am. Plenty of cars coming in at the same time dropping off their kids. No one extra directing traffic. We normally leave between 7:20-25pm and it takes us 25min max to get to school. Today it took 38 minutes so yes it was a little longer but we knew that and left with plenty of time and didn't stress since Holton wasn't giving tardies today. Besides the usual slow traffic on 270, everything was fine. The highways were wet, the side roads had 1" max of snow. I drive a minivan and it made it thru fine. But I guess if my report was of "hundreds" of car accidents, it would have been more believable.

| The question isn't why some private schools were open. Rather, it should be why the DC government wasn't on top of salting the streets this time. The ol' Gray May'r is setting a passive tone for the city government, |
Too many details is a sure sign of lying. I did not even read your drivel. |
