Ikea Hemnes daybed with a non-Ikea (i.e. normal thickness) mattress?

Anonymous
We have this bed, and decided that the ikea mattresses were not very comfortable so got a pair of bunk bed mattresses from costco. They key here is they are still a bit thinner than a normal mattress, so you can stack them and it's not towering above the daybed frame. It works well enough--it's comfortable as a king and as a twin, but it's a bit taller than it would otherwise be for a twin, which makes it a bit hard for my tall 4 yr old to climb into. Also, I find that an adult causes the double mattresses to droop a bit on the front side (my 4 yr old has no problem with this). It's fine, when I've slept on it, i sleep close to the wall. But, you know, something to keep in mind.

This is what we do. Two regular mattresses are too tall stacked on the bed.
