Help a guy plan first dates

First meet: have a quick out. It could go well, it could be horrible. The last time I had a first meet for dinner, I hated the woman. It was a miserable meal....and it was not cost. Rather, she was hyper critical of a food choice I had (more accurately, food I do not like...). She spent the whole evening criticizing things in her life, complaining about her room mate, etc. Coffee, and I could have been out of there in 20 minutes.
