Then we should have been having 2 hour delays almost everyday. My street really had nothing to clear. It was white but I would think there has to be an inch (?) to plow?

Maybe 1/2 inch in Gaithersburg, and that's being generous. Side streets were a little slippery before 8 when I left, but not as bad as the 2 hour delay day last week (which also wasn't that bad). But we ABSOLUTELY closed and had delays in the 80's. From a kid's perspective, those days off were always warranted (except for one I remember that was for a storm that was forecast but didn't really hit). |
1.5 inches in Ashton |
There was not enough snow to measure in Poolesville. There was enough to cover car tops and that's it. If you followed this storm you would have seen that the areas south and east got the most snow (Annapolis, Ocean City, Norfolk, etc). The further west (Damascus, Poolesville) got the least. No reason in hell to have a two hour delay. What they should do is give them all the two hour delays they want and then tack two hours on to the end of the day. High school would get out at 4:10, etc. That would put a stop to the whining ninnies. |
You know, whether or not you agree with the delay, be thankful that nothing like this happened in MoCo today. This was outside Asheville, NC, yesterday.
http://www.examiner.com/article/henderson-county-school-bus-overturns-on-icy-road-no-serious-injuries-reported One kid had minor injuries (broken ankle). You can see from the picture that there wasn't really that much snow on the road. Had to be frightening for parents to see that picture. |
That area had wet snow, sleet and ice. We had fluffy snow you could broom that was already done before the commute this morning. It makes a big difference. The kids are barely in school lately. Cold, dusting of snow. Come on already!! |
Strange, because we had less than an inch in Olney |
In Clarksburg, Maryland I couldn't even tell where the new snow was except on our porch (light dusting). I can't say I minded the extra hour of sleep though. |
