My DH is religious. I am not. Same faith.
He takes the kids to the temple and prays with them daily at home. I am cool with this because I am a spiritual person. |
| I take the kids to a Christian Universalist church downtown and my DH plays basketball on Sunday mornings. It works for us. He comes with us at Easter, Christmas, and for special speakers (our church is very big on LGBTQ rights). We started doing this when they were really tiny, so it isn't a big deal for them. I liked the idea of my kids growing up with a faith. If they decide that they don't want to practice later in life, I feel like I've at least given them a lovely, forgiving, spiritual foundation on which to question. |
I hope some day all children can receive objective information about religion the way they do about so many other subjects. If they are attending a Unitarian church, this is quite likely, as children there are not indoctrinated, are taught about other religions in an informative way and are generally not taught that they should believe in a supernatural god, unlike in other religions. |
