I hate to exercise! Which kind do you do?

I like to walk listening to music on headphones and I enjoy Zumba or similar dance/aerobic classes. I'm not super good at the classes, but I have a sense of humor about myself. I leave them with a good workout and a smile on my face. The hardest part for me is getting myself there.

PLease! Share how you do this? I have a health club (tennis/workout stuff) just five minutes drive from my house, but I can't bring myself to go there! I don't like clubs, I tell myself, dont' ahve anyone to play tennis with, etc.

I walk my dog when I feel like it, but even that seems too hard for me. I just can't get myself to exercise, even though I'm overweight and NEED it. Just can't do it. How do you get yourself to go, how, how, how???

+100

I see some groups walking, but the members tend to resemble each other.

I have never really exercised. I finally downloaded a "couch to 5K" app on my phone, got some good playlists, and started doing it ... 3 days a week, 30 minutes each time. It's the only thing I've stuck to. And so cheap!!!

Second this! Over quick and the music gets you pumped up. Just be sure to go with a place that knows what they're doing. I hate working out and love that I am in and out in 30 mins.

I was a competitive athlete and I hate to workout! I feel that "exercise" is different from "working out". I don't workout, but I exercise by living in the city and walking between 3 and 6 miles each day. I also occasionally lift free weights and do lunges or pushups.

You can get in and out in 30 minutes by running for 20 minutes and lifting weights for 10. And then you don't have to pay somebody to train you and you don't have to be embarrassed.

I purchase exercise equipment with good intentions and then fail to use it.

Walking, with or without the dog is my daily effort. I have also recently purchased resistance bands that have not yet left the package (see above) that are in my plans for when DC goes back to school. We shall see ...

I will be 50 soon, I walk 2-4 miles a day and work out on an elliptical at home, and once a week attend an employer sponsored fitness "boot camp" class because my job pays for it.

Pole dancing and strip tease classes. Fun and a great workout!

I go to Joy of motion and I take dance classes. They have all kinds of dance and most have intro and beginner levels. You really don't feel like you're exercising because the classes are so fun. That might be a good way to start for getting use to cardio. But, at some point you will have to include weight traing to help with bone density issues as you age.

I'm an elliptical addict.

Hiking, especially in the mountains, which unfortunately 60-90 minutes from the middle of DC where I live. I can hike all day. Don't like other exercise.
