Sort of like Hope and Joy? Presumably, you hate those equally? Hmmm, Grace is a virtue so that's out too. And Rose is a flower--better not use that either.

Wow, Merry Christmas to you too.

Apparently someone got a lump of coal in her stocking this year.

I do too. Amelia Ellis is a mouthful.

I like Amelia Sinclair or Amelia Quinn.

+1. Really bad, OP, all of them.

It's amazing. DCUM is quite possibly the most unoriginal population on the planet when it comes to middle names. Every single time someone asks for advice, they get the exact same suggestions. Rose, Grace, Anne, Claire, Jane, Lynn, Paige. Throw in a little Elizabeth and Catherine for good measure.

OP, I think your choices are just fine and make a lot of sense given that you've selected a popular first name and have a common last name as well. Phonetically, I prefer Quinn, Sage or Sinclair.

Amelia Sinclair has a terrible flow. The vowels are too similar. And I agree the names are all pretentious, except possibly Sage.

I would agree. While none of the OPs choices are my style, a traditional first name plus common last name gives plenty of leeway for something unexpected in the middle. I wouldn't bat an eye at any of the OPs choices.

Amelia Paige (sounds like Sage)

Amelia Claire (sounds like Sinclair)

Amelia Bess (sort of like Bliss)

Amelia Lynn

Amelia is a beautiful name. Sage and Bliss sound like strippers. Quinn, Ellis and Sinclair are great if they're family names. Otherwise, I agree that it sounds like you're trying too hard to give your DD a WASPy name. WASPY names are ok (can even be great) if they're legit family names. Otherwise, you're just trying too hard.

Well OP did ask for opinions. Don't ask if you don't want honest answers.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" doesn't exactly fall into the category of an "honest answer", or any answer at all. It's simply an insult. And I say this as someone who agrees with you about the names.

The issue isn't that OP's choices are unconventional. They are pretentious.

There was a lengthy thread on the name Sage a week or two ago and I'm pretty sure not one person called it pretentious. And what makes you so sure that choices like Sinclair and Ellis aren't family names? If I had a nice-sounding maiden name, I'd consider giving it to my daughter as a middle too.
