| When your 26 year old kid lives in your basement after taking 5 years to get out of Longwood with a degree in communications, he'll end up working for the kid who went to Hoffman-Boston, Gunston and Wakefield. |
Doing what? Flipping burgers? I don't think so. BTW, I'm in communications. I make $240,000 a year. |
This poster is ridiculous! |
Science Focus elem--Swanson middle--W-L is an excellent pyramid. You are misinformed. It also has diversity- something all of the Yorktown pyramids are missing. Its been rehashed over and over but same demographic of kids at both schools get same scores. W-L has a better college acceptance at top Ivies/privates, btw . |
Is that all? Then your kid is definitely doomed to a service level job. Probably more like holding the stop and slow sign at a construction site being managed by a Wakefield grad. |
| I live in the Yorktown neighborhood; households in the boundary receive mail from the school. At the end of the last school year, we got the school bulletin with the list of schools being attended by the various students. I was surprised that only a couple kids were going Ivy league. With the reputation Yorktown has, I honestly thought it would be higher. Of course TJ probably has a ton of kids going Ivy League, but I wouldn't actually be surprised if W-L or even TC Williams sent more kids to prestigious colleges. The vast majority of graduating seniors at Yorktown this year went on to state schools. |
| We could not be happier at W-L. |
In 2012 Yorktown had only one student get into Stanford. My humble TC Williams had 3. Just sayin' |
Thank you! I am sick of the idiot Yorktown booster. W-L is a better HS, but yet she keeps prattling on. We are bound for Williamsburg and Yorktown can't stand either school and their shitty unfriendly attitude. The slight increase in test scores don't mean shit in the end when the top colleges tell to take a hike. |
ignorance is bliss |
You would know best! |

Yorktown pyramids are at a premium because they are the best in the county. The problem with arlington is that there is no in between it's either Yorktown (Which is good) or the other's which are, WL and Wakefield. WL is slightly better than Wakefield but not by much.
You will also notice that non Yorktown schools have very low rate of Asians. There is a direct correlation with the quality of the school and percentage of Asians. I am not sure if Asians seek out better schools or schools perform better when Asians are in attendance. Many parent's are also not comfortable sending their children to a majority ESOL speaking school or where their White or Asian child is in the minority population. |
You ladies just sling mud at each other with no real self-awareness. Things like college admissions stats in one year lend themselves to whatever argument people want to make. More kids got into Brown, Harvard and Princeton from W-L last year than from Yorktown. Oh no, the Ivies are telling W-L to take a hike. But wait, more kids from Yorktown than W-L got into Duke, Georgetown, NYU, Michigan and Wisconsin. Oh no, Yorktown must be better after all.... |
