Private Schools in the $20k range

Why is this any different from someone at NCS posting constantly about how much they love their child's school? Or Sidwell? Unless you can demonstrate that this is the AD or someone posting on behalf of the school, why can posters with kids at more well-known or so-called more prestigious schools sing the praises of their schools, but this person can't?

New poster bringing awareness to another private that they personally love and might not be on the radar of parents.

Just for clarity, we're new parents at the Barnesville school, and we don't do PR. Last year we were in the midst of a very stressful school decision for about six months, and it took over our lives with worry and uncertainty.

When we finally landed at a great school, we observed to each other that we wish someone had put the school on our radar screen a long time before. Because of where we live, we constantly heard of the same schools -- Norwood, Green Acres, etc. In retrospect we wish other schools (yes, Barnesville) had been mentioned to us, so we resolved to help with that info if any other parents in the same situation this year that we were last year.

I've lurked on these boards for a while so I know there are all personality types here. And I expected that if I did a few posts praising our school, as I did last night, someone would seize the opportunity to object. But sorry, my posts weren't aimed at the cynic, they were aimed at the parents who might be facing a similar situation to our recent one. I figure that in a forum with thousands of posts, people ought to be able to skip over 4-5 if they're not interested, without telling others to shut up, but hey, there's a controller in every crowd, I guess.

I'm OP, and I have no problem with the Barnesville poster. It was clearly one person posting all over the place, but so what? She didn't try to hide that. I like knowing about lesser-known schools. And, to Barnesville Mom: it's too far for us for now, but I actually have thought seriously about moving out that direction at some point for a more sane way of life. Nice to know there would be a good private option if we do that down the road.

Thank you. I'm glad it helped.

For the record, I also did a few posts giving favorable impressions of other schools we visited.

We really found the whole experience of selecting a school more difficult than we ever anticipated, and feel that anything that puts more info in the hands of more people is a good thing.

Getting to this a bit late so you may already have decided. We were in the same boat. Shy but smart, looking for nutruing place with great academics and a real community feel. We looked at Christ Episcopal School in Rockville and when we toured it we were sold. Tuition is around $16,000. Not sure if Rockville (near Town Square) is convenient but if there's a possibility that it could work, give it a look. Our shy one has blossomed in short time there.

Barnesville School is less than $20k and I heard that they did not raise their tuitions this year. They kept everything flat. That is pretty nice given the economy. Certainly helpful to the parents.
