Yes, I agree. Women, when they become wives and moms, must give up all things that motivate them or keep them happy so that they do not appear self-invovled. It is fine to go to go the gym or work out for an hour or so each day, but if that working out actually leads to some weekend event, well, they must be selfish. |
I kind of hate that I'm admitting this but I make more than my DH and have a much higher net worth (inheritance plus years of working while he was in school). I definitely care about my appearance, but not as much as I would if I were financially dependent on him. I know I should do it for myself etc etc, and I basically do, but I think if I were a SAHM worrying about DH banging the secretary, I'd care more. Sad but true. |
So, I used to be driven and competitive. Triathlete. Had kids in 30s. Body did not bounce back. Between work and kids, I don't have time to exercise. I could spend even less time with my kids, but I choose to prioritize them first in my life.
I bounce between sizes 8-12. I can still run 6 miles in 50 minutes though. Oh, I have never been a fashionista or had the latest hairstyles. I am who I am, HHI or not. |
I agree! Women must give up competitive sports after bearing children. It's the epitome of selfish. It's just such a bad message to be sending her children. |
You don't need to go to college, but you do have to have balls big enough to rush into a burning building to save a douchebag like yourself and your kids. And a firefighter does have to know how to scrap your mangled body off 495 when your idiotic driving matches up to your idiotic internet ramblings. |
You're overreacting to the comment. Not the pp, I AMA woman that has trained for and competed in triathlons. They vary in ranges. The shorter sprint and Olympic distances don't take a lot of time, but training for a half- ironman or ironman is very time consign. And the races are time consuming. It's not like the 2 hours to go run a 5k race. You have to check in hours early (sometimes the day before), have your helmet and bike "inspected" (this actually only takes 2 min, but a lot of the time there is a line). You have to position all your equipment. It really is a long process that isn't just a couple hours. |
So what is your point? It seems to me that you simply have antiquated beliefs and only believe that 5ks are becomming of a mother. I only wish I had the endurance to qualify and compete at Kona. I have this thing called a spouse who is a capable and empowered parent. We support each other in both of our athletic endeavors. Our kids are also quite athletic too end enjoy competing at a high level. Much of this probably come from watching their parents do sports. Both DH and I were division 1 athletes and my DH was Iinthe NFL for a short 3 years, athletics are a part of our daily lives. Always will be. |
OMG we need to go get some wine together ![]() |
Not the PP, but who would want you with an attitude? You sound like a potential embarrassment. |
I'm there and I'll buy the first round. Thanks for the smile. |
Don't thank me...thank the idiot for his stupid comment. He supplied the perfect set up. |
I had fun in my 20s, kids in my 30s and 40s, and everything else you described, so whatever... |
In a classic DCUM Sexless Marriage, so neither of us bothers to keep fit. More time for House Hunters! |
A real quagmire. Not one that I am interested in debating tho. There are fatties & hotties at the top of their career in both genders.
I don't think success and health are mutually exclusive. No one would even pose this question to the men. Absolutely ridiculous nonsense. |
