Student Metro Cards - Available to MD students at DC privates?

This accommodates DC residents who live closer to a MD station than a DC station, like those in Shepherd Park DC who are closer to the Silver Spring station than the Takoma DC station.

And only specific stations. For example, you can't go to Bethesda (the first stop outside DC, because Friendship is right on the line).

We live in DC and my children attend private school using the student discount for travel on the metro. They receive the required paperwork from the school secretary.

DC residents who send their kids to private school in DC have just as much right to the transportation subsidies as those who use the DC publics. We pay our DC taxes and THAT is where it comes from. That a parent of a DC public school kid thinks DC resident private school kids should not get the same benefit just reinforces the stereotype of parents who send their kids to public schools.

In DC, this is for almost 100% of the student population as the only school buses are for children with special needs or schools that have "failed". Why should the county subsidize getting children to and from private school?

I believe you are mistaken. DC regularly subsidizes DC students traveling to private schools in DC. Why would students who choose to attend private schools be treated any differently? It's only an issue when there's a cross-border situation.

Why should they be treated differently? Because they don't live in DC and don't pay DC taxes dumbass.

Maryland and VA pay into Metro , too

Really it's the fed that subsidizes most of it

Yes, but this is the DC One Card Student Subsidy. It's not a MD and VA metro subsidy. I'm sure if your MD and VA students took the metro too and from school, you could have a VA One Card.

It's paid out of the DC Budget to DC resident students who travel to school using the DC metro system. It may take them DCPCS, DCPS or private school.
