| I think no one is suggesting colorectal cancer because of OP's young age, which makes it very unlikely. However, her symptoms are exactly what I experienced when finally diagnosed with colon cancer in my 30's. I hope she has gotten an accurate and less serious diagnosis. |

ANYONE can get colorectal cancer.... the incidence rate is 15 times higher for those over the age of 50 than that of those age 20-49 but that doesn't mean that the wont or can't get it... so if they symptoms match, they should most definitely get checked out. If a twenty year old found a lump in her breast... should she ignore it because 'she isn't old enough', 'isn't in the AGE BRACKET', 'old enough to even have mammograms' for breast cancer? SURE AS HELL NOT.... that would be stupid. And besides that ONE PERSONS BODY IS NOT THE SAME AS ANOTHER... so you saying that what she was experiencing was EXACTLY what you did..... that is stupid.
Forums are not the place to get medical help just so all of you people know. That is what on call drs are for , urgent care facilities and emergency rooms. Anyone who would take advice from other individuals in a forum about their actual health issues are not right. |
First of all, this is a very old thread -- not sure why you're bringing it up. Second of all, everyone was advising her to see a gastroenterologist, who as part of diagnostic testing for Crohn's and UC would do the same testing one would do to diagnose colorectal cancer. If she had cancer -- which is much less likely than her having Crohn's or UC, especially in conjunction with her positive antibody testing -- it would have been found in a colonoscopy. |
| I had this when I got food poisoning. |

| The signs that OP was describing are all red flags for colorectal cancer. Please go to the doctor immediately if you are having any of these signs! Don't wait! My mom had been having these signs for nearly a year. She's had digestive issues for most of her life and thought it was related to that and her age (58). When things got unbearable over Thanksgiving, she finally broke down and went to a specialist. Unfortunately, it ended up being rectal cancer. She started chemo last week and will be going every two weeks for at least three months. Surgery may be in her future as well. She had never had a colonoscopy prior to this, despite a family history of digestive issues. The prep for the colonoscopy is nothing compared to what she is experiencing now. Please get this checked out. |
It’s been increasing astronomically in young people. My father died from it and every oncologist we spoke to mentioned how the 20-30 year old groups are seeing an exponential increase in CC, but since drs /insurance skip over testing and assume it’s something else that in those age groups it’s usualky not diagnosed until Stahe IV. I’m not trying to scare, but anyone with those symptoms should be screened promptly. |
| I know this is an old thread, but I had this once a week for about a month before finally going to the gastro. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s a few years later. Someone upthread asked about if OP had been on a long course of antibiotics. That made me remember that my mom made me take long term antibiotics for my skin when I was a teenager. Now I wonder if that has anything to do with it. |
Yup. Me too. That was my first thought. |
probably IBS and hemorrhoids But you need to see a doctor! |
Six years ago. OP wrote this 6 years ago. |
| I have been having abdominal pain as well as bloody mucus and occasionally black stool I am 22 years old the bloody mucus has been on going for four months now and usually stops for two days out the week . If there is an update I’ll be waiting . The blood is bright red and I usually have to sit on the toilet for thirty minutes because there is an urgency but then it only leads to gas and blood . My doctors appt isn’t until the 21st I’m wondering what to expect |
