| Parkway Deli sources their sandwich meats from Saval. Saval is like two rungs below Boars Head. If you want Saval corned beef or pastrami, go to Food Lion and heat it up in your microwave. |

We are not snotty. It's just we have high standards for food and have tasted what real deli, pizza and bagels are supposed to taste like. Please let me know which good jewish deli in Ny you have been to that is worse than Parkway. These are my favorite's Carnegie Katz's Russ and Daughter's for lox, whitefish etc. Zabar's (for lox etc) Barney Greengrass 2nd ave Deli These are continually ranked as the best in NY. Please show me one list on great deli's in the US where Parkway ever comes up. Otherwise, I 'll stick with NY. |
I enjoyed DGS but it's not a deli. Not a traditional Jewish deli, anyway, which is what people on this thread seem to be looking for. Also, while tasty, it's overpriced and snooty -- they refuse to substitute anything at all, even to put a sandwich on a bagel instead of rye bread or vice versa. Excuse me for desiring to corrupt the chef's grand vision, but would it really be that hard? Particularly for $13 for a bagel sandwich, they could be a little accommodating. |
Totally agree. My in-laws get lox from their supermarket on Long Island that it better than what I have eaten at Parkway Deli. (And what I ate at Attman's was even worse; so fishy I wondered if it had gone off.) I was so excited for Parkway when I first moved to this area, having heard great things about it. Then I went, and realized that either people genuinely didn't know any better, or they'd been beaten into submission by the lack of other options. I am not saying that great delis do not exist outside NY -- but they definitely don't exist in this area. |
Really? I'm the OP and tried my husband's corned beef and thought it was good. Not that I have a ton to compare it to other than delis in the DC area, but I certainly didn't find it flavorless. I do hate bland matzo ball soup, though. I can't understand that at all. Mine is far from great, I'm sure, but bland it is not, and if *I* can make it flavorful it can't be that difficult. |
| Meh, New Yorkers. Pfffft. They need you to bow to them. LOL how they think they are experts on everything! |
Apparently if you have not tried all the delis on pp's list in NY above then you truly have never experienced a REAL jewish deli LMAO.
|
and you apparently haven't learned to read since the I was quoting the poster who said that Parkway was better than a lot of the deli's in NY they had been to. If you want to keep eating crappy food be my guest. The rest of us know where to go. |
Wow you are a piece of work. Yes I enjoy eating crap food all day long. You know whats best obviously :INSERT MASSIVE EYEROLL:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Are people really fighting over delis ? Hysterical ! |
There is actually a lot of good pizza in DC and Chinese food in Annandale is good. And of course you can get some good bagels here. The grass is always greener... |

Interesting string, and certainly the most eye rolls I've seen in some time.
Is this in the shopping center fronting Tuckerman or in the center on the side of Seven Locks where the kids gym is located? |
