Parkway deli is awesome!!! There are some people (i.e. snotty NYers) who will not believe any deli is good when its not in NY. I have been to plenty of places in NY and they were NOT good Jewish delis.
We are not snotty. It's just we have high standards for food and have tasted what real deli, pizza and bagels are supposed to taste like. Please let me know which good jewish deli in Ny you have been to that is worse than Parkway. These are my favorite's Carnegie Katz's Russ and Daughter's for lox, whitefish etc. Zabar's (for lox etc) Barney Greengrass 2nd ave Deli These are continually ranked as the best in NY. Please show me one list on great deli's in the US where Parkway ever comes up. Otherwise, I 'll stick with NY.
Totally agree. My in-laws get lox from their supermarket on Long Island that it better than what I have eaten at Parkway Deli. (And what I ate at Attman's was even worse; so fishy I wondered if it had gone off.) I was so excited for Parkway when I first moved to this area, having heard great things about it. Then I went, and realized that either people genuinely didn't know any better, or they'd been beaten into submission by the lack of other options. I am not saying that great delis do not exist outside NY -- but they definitely don't exist in this area.
