Oh I totally want to be your friend.

Alas, as an European- American, there is some truth to your humor.

Does 2.0 also come with the new MCPS strategy of taking out math (4/5) from the HGCs and tilting HGC entrance to verbal and humanities to redress the "gap" and population imbalance in the elementary school magnet programs [HGCs] back to the early days of the HGCs?

Yes, the good ole days! I like this strategy because I can speak only one language--American-English. That's an advantage don't you think?

The HGCs have never had math as part of the curriculum. I'm not sure what you are getting at...And what do youmean the population imbalance?

8. 2.0 is to hide the achievement gap between Asians and whites.

(This is circular.)

This too would accomplish this goal...an intended consequence.

"The HGCs have never had math as part of the curriculum. I'm not sure what you are getting at...And what do youmean the population imbalance?"

What is the proportional representative population of the HGCs?

Is there an imbalance?

If not, do not pass go and do not collect $200.

3.0 is in the works, and not only does it emphasize critical thinking, it focus on critically analyzing critical thinking.

So stay tuned.

What does that mean?

It means that it has nothing to do with 2.0.

I got it!

I really do hate 2.0 and I still enjoy this humorous thread.

Best thread we've seen about 2.0. Although I'm still curious what feedback MCPS is talking about because I'd like to see it. One can't completely rely on DCUM after all!!

Funny. MCPS probably surveyed their own employees..not anonymously of course lest even someone in MCPS not provide favorable feedback.

Our principal tried telling everyone in our school how much everyone loves 2.0. Several parents on the PTA sent out a survey and the results were that 90% were unhappy with both the report cards and 2.0. I'm sure the PTA sent the results to the MCPS and the BOE. I'd bet that MCPS threw it in the trash.

7. I don't know a single person who likes 2.0, and if you say you like 2.0, you obviously work for MCPS.

Actually, all the teachers I know in mcps don't like it. They can see the value in the overall concept, but it's implementation is poor. And breaking down the math into absurd strategies is fine for kids who are struggling, but rather counterproductive for your average student (not gifted...average).
