| They can move more of Tysons into Langley |
Well, OK, but moving Timber Lane kids out of McLean has not been flagged by FCPS to date as a possibility, and I get queasy when it kind of looks like someone who may be at McLean is lobbying to redistrict the low SES kids out of the school. I don't think that's what was at issue with Haycock, even though some Cluster 2 folks tried to turn it into class warfare at times, but I'm not sure why you think FCPS would leave McLean with only four elementary schools (Chesterbrook, KG, FS and Haycock) in the McLean pyramid. I guess they could move Lemon Road into the McLean pyramid, since it physically sits in the McLean district, but that would be contrary to the notion that part of the goal of the Haycock/Lemon Road realignment was to create an AAP center in the Marshall pyramid. |
You must have missed the whole Lemon Road/Haycock thing. No one had heard of the idea before October, and the school board voted in January. There are always conversations going on that the public doesn't hear about until the school board has already jumped in with both feet. |
They could, but it's just as likely they'll move wealthy parts of western Vienna now at McLean and Marshall to Langley, and send all the kids from new housing in Tysons, some of which will probably end up being subsdiized/affordable, to Marshall and McLean. |
Sounds like you're just itching to talk about how you were ambushed. No thanks. Been there, heard that. |
Ha! More likely they take the extra kids rom Haycock and redistrict them to Timberlane. |
Nice try, but we're staying at Haycock. The point was that you don't know everything. Surprise, surprise. |
I'm quite certain I know more about FCPS decisions affecting that area than you do. |
That's even less likely. If anyone is likely to get moved to Timber Lane, it would be people now at Shrevewood. |
And I'm quite certain your being a pompous ass. |
Better, perhaps, than just spouting nonsense, which is what you've been doing. |
The plan has been for part of Shrevewood to go to Lemon Road. They won't fill Lemon Road with the AAP center, so there will still be space. I would imagine they will still send part of Shrevewood there. Haycock is in the same high school pyramid as part of Timberlane so it would be much less disruptive to send the Haycock kids there. Of course, their parents will object vehemently and perhaps they will succeed -- although it will be hard when they complained so loudly about how overcrowded the school is and how horrible it will be during renovation. Doesn't matter to me. My child is finished with elementary school. It will be interesting to watch, though. |
The complaint was how overcrowded the school would be during the renovation if the enrollment wasn't reduced, which was one reason why Cluster 2 kids were moved to Lemon Road. There are no plans to change the base boundaries of Haycock, so you might need a very big bucket of popcorn if you expect to watch the School Board debate moving Haycock kids to Timber Lane any time soon. |
| I thought the latest projection was that Haycock would be down to about 860 students this fall so I also don't know why students would be sent to Timber Lane or any other school at this point. |
Its pretty amusing to think that anyone would come to DCUM expecting anything other than nonsense. |
