| Wow! How do you guys get so many years use out of a backpack? My daughter has an LL bean bag with rollers and while it looks like it is in great shape from a distance it does have small holes. My kids are very hard on things though. |
| Also, I'm PP I would say that is has held up better than other bags. I think it is better quality than the PB Kids ones we use to buy. |
does the backpack part get dragged on the ground? |
| personally, I prefer to get 1 backpack per year per kid at Target for $15, and then throw it away, because it is so filthy and the kid is so done with it. |
Getting in and out of carpool line, I know the backpack definitely gets mishandled. I'm surprised that everyone else's kids have better luck. |
| We definitely use the Target new one each year strategy. My son can pick out what he likes and get something different next year. He is extremely picky! Then we use the old one as a summer pool bag, sports or travel bag. I actually haven't had any problems with them falling apart - he is a 3rd grader and i think we still have them all. |

If your LLBean bag rips or gets a hole in it they will exchange it no questions asked:
We want to make it easy. Return or exchange your L.L.Bean or L.L.Bean Signature items by mail or at any of our stores. No authorization from customer service is required. We did this with a backpack we purchased before. Definitely worth buying from LLBean! |
Curious, when are you buying that you get them for $15? I've seen them for $30 and up. Even during back to school last year I never saw them that low. Which brand are you buying? Are your kids able to fit books, lunch, boots, snow gear etc... into it and not have it rip open? I'm not being snarky. I'm curious. My kids take lunch daily with nice sized lunchboxes that take up a lot of space. Plus cubbies at my DD's school are smallllllllllll and shared with another student. She has to be able to keep her stuff in her backpack or it all gets mixed together and lost immediately. |
OP again. I did see the Trans by Jansport at Target for $17 but it's the regular size backpack and I am looking for something bigger. I'm also wondering if the Trans version is the same quality as a regular Jansport or if it is of lesser quality and made exclusively for Target. |

I don't spend a lot since I have girls and they beg for new ones every other year or so (old backpacks become sports, camping and dance bags so it's not that we waste ones that still have life left in them)
I usually get the sale ones from Lands End or LL Bean outlet. One DD got a Costco one last year and it still looks great and will get used again this year. |

high sierra from costco for dc. 3rd year going strong. |
| I'm interested in the LLbean ones and I have a child going into 3rd grade and 1st grade in FCPS. It looks from the website that I should be getting the Original Book Pack but it looks small and I'm concerned that it would fit that much stuff. Should I get the Original Book Park or the Deluxe Book Pack ? Thanks everyone! |
| I thought I posted in this thread but it must have been another one. DC picked out a Target "Swiss" brand backpack several years ago. We've gotten 4 years of wear out of it and it's still going strong. I think it was $30. |
| Garnet Hill is having a sale right now - buy a backpack and get the matching lunch box for free. No idea of the quality but the designs are cuet and my DD needs a new one so we're going to try. |
