If your dog can't get under your mudroom, set out antifreeze in dishes. Rat bait may work also. If you are feeling sweet, use a havahart trap with tuna, drag the offending cats to animal control.
If you love your cat, keep it home. Damned if I know why people scream blue murder about dog poop, when cat piss stinks and never goes away. At least the dog shits in the middle of the yard, not the vegetables I'm growing for dinner. |
Sometimes cats get out on accident, even if they are indoor only cats. Do you really want to poison an innocent animal that doesn't even have any street smarts and will have enough of a problem dealing with things like other outdoor (feral) cats? You should be shot for the fun of it, and then see how that feels like as it is basically what you are wanting to do to a cat, harm them when not needed. |
Actually, this is a very good tactic to help keep cats away and it is not cruel to them. The strong smells that the pepper spray and tabasco sauce have makes a good deterrent. They won't kill an animal if they ingest a bit, but the horrible strong taste will last and they won't forget their experience and will start to avoid that area. Much better idea than the stupid PP saying they will leave out antifreeze and rat bait. |
| You've never lived next to a crazy cat lady who "never" let her cats outside. I've had clothes ruined, cat shit in my vegetables, and my whole house reek when the windows were open. |
No, but I've lived next to people with dogs that won't stop barking all day long, that kick up the flower beds in the front, that have jumped over my back fence (it's short) and tore up stuff in my backyard, and had them poop EVERYWHERE and haven't had the owner's clean it up because they are lazy. I have never once threatened to poison those dogs though. |
| NP here. I have a similar problem except it's not just an inconvenience. One of my dogs will absolutely chase and kill a cat if he can. Sadly he has done it in the past at our old house, in a much smaller fenced in yard than we currently have. There is one cat that doesn't seem to get the message and so far my dog hasn't caught it (he's not as young as he used to be) but he could at any time. I really don't want this to happen but as a PP said, I'm not going to prohibit my dog from running free in our OWN yard. The cat does have a tag that says "outdoor cat" with a phone number and I'm tempted to call, but what exactly could the person do? They're clearly not interested in keeping the cat in their house, and short of that how could they keep it out of our yard? |
| You have more money than I do: those carefully tended veggies were feeding us because I got seeds for cheap, not because I felt like eating organic. Antifreeze I had. I asked CCL multiple times to keep her cats indoors: surprise, when a few of them died, she did. |
| Instead of a hose, use a mister filled with water. We had to do that with our inside only cat because he kept jumping up on the stovetop to beg for food. He learned immediately to stay away. All I have to do is reach for the mister. |
How the hell do you know that ANYONE has more money than you do? I don't eat organic unless it is just as cheap as the other stuff that is not. I live off of very little money each month. It sucks that your neighbor was not interested in working with you to try and deal with her cats going into your yard, but killing them is never the answer. I hope you walk out into the street one day and get hit by a random car and die. I would wish for a bus, but your family would then get the money after your death and who knows what kind of things you have taught your children about killing animals when it suits you. So random car, hit and run, you die. |
Actually, I wouldn't mind dying by a random hit and run. In the meantime, my kids are fed. The cats now stay inside, and life is good. Hope you receive yourself what you wish for others---ill wishing harms the wished far more than anything. |
No, I'm just wishing for Karma to bite you in your ass. |
| I love the pro-animal people wishing people would die instead. It is a cat, idiot. A random cat that will die within a year-----I'll bet you are all anti-welfare AND abortion, too. |
You dumbshit – the OP said TWICE that it was a grill COVER. What do you mean if you had your ‘druthers’ your cats would be indoor cats? Why do you have to let them out? It’s people like you that piss us off. Your cat does NOT need to go outside. It would be safer and everyone would be happier. |
| How about set up a sprinkler with a motion detector, when the cat comes by, it will turn on and spray it. I have heard that works for cats and deer. |
