Anyone here not attend an Ivy/SLAC and still having a happy productive life?

Anonymous
I dunno why so much emphasis on getting into Ivies? My Dd may be allowed to apply for one or two if she has the grades and scores, but I don't want to bank on getting in. She is already drinking the Kool Aid offered by her peers and their parents that these are the "acceptable" schools. She broke down crying to me about her prospects. It is a real shame to have so much pressure on you at a young age. My advice to her is to go where it will be the best program and fit for you. This may or may not be an Ivy. You will do weel regardless of where you go to school.

I was also able to get a great job right out of school.

OP, who is trolling on DCUM and apparently didn't go to an Ivy or SLAC, obviously doesn't have a happy or productive life. What are we to conclude from that?

That I am a loser?

I might be your boss. This is an anonymous forum.

Well you tell us. Trolling is not exactly productive, and it's generally understood that trolls are sad, lonely people.

No. Just like sticking the ple in the anthill to se what come out.

Pole not pie... And I don't mean Mr. Kowalski.

So you meet the definition of a time-wasting, passive-aggressive troll. Productive and happy? I think not. You poor thing.

What non-Ivy, non-SLAC college did you go to, anyway?

^ I think you're being unfair to the OP. I'm sure we all agree that someone did not attend an IVY/SLAC can nevertheless have a happy, productive life. I think it's worth reminding people on DCUM of this evry once and awhile as one can sometimes lose perspective reading these education forums.

Of course there are lots of great schools out there. OP has admitted to being a troll though.

I went to the commuter ivy league of long island. And I make 6 figures! Can you believe it? I did go to grad school at the only school to turn down a spot in the ivy league though. I wouldn't have wanted to play those pussies in football either. Lolz.

Hofstra? Actually a great school. I have family connections to it, although I would never publish them here. You should do a better job representing them, though. (And too bad Hofstra dropped its football team, right? Although I guess it made financial sense.)

Nah, Stony. And what do you mean? I'm out here repping Seawolves day and night. I got an excellent education on the cheap which I would recommend to anyone that asked.
