Douchebag rich BIL

You don't have to be present for the sales pitch - whether it's not sitting down for the photo album presentation, or tuning it all out at the table.

It's sad though when we can not feel close and connected with family. You can't choose your family.

Bite it. Flaunting it in front of family (ie. going overboard on Secret Santa gifts) is a douche bag move. If you've got it, great. Acting like a fucking asshole is acting like a fucking asshole, regardless of your tax bracket.

And for what its worth- that 47% you despise includes active military, veterans, seniors on Medicare, and disabled. I'd be willing to bet the d-bag BIL's company has gotten more than its fair share of Corporate Welfare but that's just fine and dandy, as long as it doesn't involve po' folk, right?

I'd tell him that I'm really not interested in his little stories.

NP, and OP sounds both annoyed (understandable) AND jealous. The secret santa thing and the "We do well but we don't make $1.5mil" are 2 of the comments that indicate jealousy.

OP you haven't really explained why it's so difficult to just limit exposure. Most people have relatives who are a pain to be around on the holidays or whenever it's required. It's too bad you say your sister used to not be like that but now is. But really, where is the rocket science complexity of just not hanging out with them, and accepting that that's how they are so when you NEED to hang out, you just roll your eyes and change the subject or walk away?

You're acting like you need to DO something. What can you do, people are how they are. The more you give in to the jealousy aspect of it, the more bitter you'll be.

America is built on success, and successful people build America. If your BIL wants to strut a little and enjoy his success, stop complaining and let him.

No one should take this bait to respond to this post. It's just too easy.
