OP here, I will try these! I do have one spot in Gburg that I love: Taco Bar. It's next to a gas station and inside a beer and wine shop. At lunch time it's packed with male construction types. Always a good sign of cheap, tasty food in my experience. |

Wow...we moved here from San Diego county several years ago, and have been in search of a great burrito since.
Do any of the places mentioned earlier in this thread, serve the fastfood "bertos" type food--you know those little fast food drive through places all over San Diego county, and almost all of them have a name that ends in 'berto--Eriberto, Roberto, Alberto, etc. MASSIVE burritos for a few dollars, rolled tacos smothered in cheese, sour cream,lettuce and tomatoes, etc. We live in Prince William county, VA, but would drive to MD for a burrito like we used to get at a 'berto's in San Diego! |

Sounds like you found Taco Bar (listed above as near Rio)! It's great for breakfast, too. The others may be a drive, but if you like Taco Bar you should enjoy them. |

No, no, my dears. You want either Burrito Fast on Mount Pleasant Street (next to Adams Express, which is awesome Korean food, btw), OR Taqueria Distrito Federale, on 14th Street between Oak and Otis. At Burrito Fast, you have a choice of chicken, meat, or vegtable [sic]. And you either have to speak Spanish or be comfortable gesticulating if you want any variations. Fun, cheap, delicious. |

| I was up in Gaithersburg yesterday and couldn't believe how many Latin restaurants there are. DC is really becoming like the Boston area (and probably others). Unless you can go to expense account places or travel to the areas where the rents are low, you're going to get bland Americanized food. |

The Baja Fresh comment was not a recommendation, but rather a sad admission. It was a statement about upper NW/Chevy Chase/Bethesda, where the pickings are slim. If you live in cool places like Mount Pleasant or the 14th/U area, you have cooler options. In Bethesda it's a burrito wasteland. |

and if the OP is still around you need to try the Peruvian Chicken and fried Yuca. Our food is more influence by S. America.
My bro lives in Colorado and their burrittos are totally different. Good luck getting a great Burritto but you don't go to China and say where can I get a good steak and cheese.

Am I the only person who thinks Taqueria Distrito Federale is overrated?
I love Guajillo in Rosslyn. I've not had the burritos but everything else is super delicious and fresh. And no cheddar cheese is sight! And they have great mole. |

DF is authentic. Real mexican food might not be your thing, but if it is, this is where you get it. (And I agree, if you're used to tons of spice and mounds of fresh green stuff, you might find the beans-and-rice stuff to be a little bland.) |

Shhhhhhhhhhh! You don't want Bethesda and DC folk up in our area do you? They already clog up our back roads on the weekend biking. Repeat after me - in Gaithersburg we only eat at Applebee's. |
