my baby looks like an old man!

Looking back at baby pictures for #1, I can see that she was really funny looking. At the time, I thought she was beautiful. Have thought #2 was a little funny looking since birth. He's getting cute now, but still funny looking sometimes. People looked shocked when I say that, but I think that this second time around I can be honest! That said, I'm sure he'll just keep getting cuter and cuter as he grows into his features and gets some hair! Regardless, I think as a person he's adorable.

OP here, thanks everyone! These posts are encouraging. I don't think I have PPD or anything, as I don't feel depressed. I am sleep deprived and occasionally a little overwhelmed but I have a huge support system and a lot of help.

I am glad to hear there are other babies that look like battle gnomes or old men. And that they grow out of it. I just feel really guilty that I am so put-off my her appearance and therefore, I have not been bonding quite the way I did with my first. I know this sounds awful!!! I hate myself for it.

She also looks nothing like me or DH and that threw me off too, as our first looked exactly like both of us. I will try to give myself time and try to bond and hope she begins to look more like a baby and less like a dwarf from Lord of the Rings.

Does she look 'normal' now?

Lol. How bored are you to resurrect this? Or does your new baby also look like a "battle gnome?"

This happened to DC1 - but then he was born very early and had no body fat, hence the wrinkles... I joke that I know what he will look like as an old man, after I am dead and gone!

We must be careful how we treat our babies or children when they look different than what you expected! Babies can pick up that negative energy. Why are you so worried about how your own baby looks anyway? Why are you being so vain? If this baby is a product of you and your significant other, then it comes from you two! Embrace babies in their own uniqueness. My mother told me I looked like an old lady and I turned out to be very beautiful! I am beautiful on the inside and out though.Uggghhh, why are people so vain? Some people can't even have children and this lady is complaining about how her child looks.

Her baby is probably in preschool.

LOL

OP, lots of babies look like little old men. Most babies are not cute until 3 months.

Sorry- Just saw I replied to a zombie thread. Why do people resurrect old crap?

I treasure a photo of my preemie oldest. At 32 weeks, he was all thin and wrinkly. I will give this photo to him and tell him to compare it to his real old-age self. I am prepared to bet this is what he will look like at 80!

Perhaps you could do this as well.

I agree. I honestly don't think babies are cute at all, not until they're several months old. So don't sweat it.

Aw, my baby looked like an old Asian man, and we aren't even Asian! I had someone question her paternity, but she was still adorable. Few newborns are stereotypically cute OP. I think old man babies are adorable.

This thread is years old. OP is likely over it by now.

OP, ask any delivery nurse: Newborns are ugly. They just are. Obviously, their mothers don't see this, but it doesn't change the fact. It's okay. Most grow out of it
