Let's the cut the BS. The majority of people don't chose the top rated schools because of housing costs. |
I am the PP. We are in a neighborhood currently zoned to W-L that is more likely than most to be rezoned to Wakefield and when I say I am okay with it I mean it. Don't put words into my mouth. |
You make no sense. If kids aren't fully understanding the math or science questions (which are in English) they still aren't going to do as well on those parts of the test. Even the problems that are just numbers could be challenging if they have difficulty understanding how to master the operations because they don't understand their teachers' explanations. My English speaking daughter sometimes misunderstands the question sometimes...imagine if you misunderstood it often. |
Talk is cheap. |
| And speaking of boundaries, how are the HS in Arlington supposed to be redistricted? Anybody knows what it's looking like? We are currently zoned for W-L, and I would very much like to keep it that way. |
You are a fucking idiot. Housing costs are expensive in good zones. People move for schools which is why Langley/McLean have rich populations and inner city DC poor. |
| We are all anonymous no need to pretend diversity is the reason, its housing cost. |
|
Who knows what APS will come up with. But I wouldn't assume anything. Yorktown and W-L neighborhoods could go to Wakefield. We've all seen the population projections for the N Arlington high schools. |
And the articles and columns by the idiot that wants to bus all the poor kids North and all the rich kids South to achieve "diversity" in every school. |
The single family homes in the W-L or Yorktown school zones are incredibly expensive. Homes are selling for over 1 mill in previously blue collar Halls Hill and Bon Air, unthinkable 20 years ago. On the other end of the spectrum there are subsidized apartments for families with very low incomes. But there isn't much in between, which is unfortunate. The little red brick ramblers near Williamsburg MS used to be on the high end of affordable, but those tiny houses are nothing but teardowns these days. Going to a diverse school is a great experience for most kids, but it looks like the Arlington schools will continue to reflect the growing chasm between the rich and poor in this area. It's diversity, but with limitations. At least the rich kids in Arlington aren't pricks like in the Karate Kid. |
Yeah. That guy is ridiculous. Let's do away with neighborhood schools and bus everyone so that each school has demographic parity. Unreal. |
Fine by me as long as everyone pays the same tax bill. |
You are an idiot. So glad my kids don't go to school with yours. |
Ooh, nothing like a hypocrite with hurt feelings. Transferred to Wakefield yet? |
