The big business employees that you would probably be equivalent to are going to be salaried employees who don't get overtime either. I work for a consulting company and I regularly put in extra hours to make sure the clients needs are met. And since they ate federal govt organizations, if they close early we can't charge for those hours. So its make up the time or take leave. |
| No but they gave me Monday off |
Yes, there are those folks as well. They like to feel like one of the working gang even when they are not. |
Yeah, I work in the private sector, work 10 - 11 hour days all the time (and do not get on DCUM / surf the net while working) and do not get paid for it, either. No bonuses and our firm has only provided cost of living raises once in the last three years (news flash - we're in a recession. Be thankful you have a job). Most of us in the private sector don't get Columbus Day off .... And what with all these feds posting about extra time off before every holiday??!! Isn't a paid holiday sufficient? You need MORE time off - then USE YOUR F-ING LEAVE!!! |

Uh, no.
We get at best a couple hours early release at Xmas. |
| My husband and I used to both work for the government and without exception, EVERY person who was consistently working voluntary overtime and whining about it was a time waster. They were the people who took multiple coffee or smoke breaks, took hour plus lunches, and sat around in each other's offices shooting the shit for hours a day. |
