Wow, have you all beat coming in at just under 4'8" and normally about 80 pounds, but am 32 weeks pregnant right now so weighing in at 105! I'm a teacher so get a lot of - I thought you were a student. Kind of stinks sometimes and it definitely gets old... but at 31 I can still save huge on clothes. My go to place for pants is usually Delias - size 00 short. Depending on the style I either get them hemmed a little to wear with flats or keep as is and wear with heels.

Are you good friends with tall women? I'm 5'8 so tallish but not tall and all my female friends are my height or taller. Am I dissing shorter women somehow or are they dissing me?

I have many many tall girlfriends. Sometimes they tease that short women get all the tall guys and could they please go back to my end of the dating pool. I envy them for their long legs, and they say they like my "smallness." It's all in good fun. Variety is the spice of life.

five feet tall is not "really short".

Less than 3% of adult women are that height or shorter so it can be considered really short.

You must mean Americans right? Because height varies so much around the world.

5'2 here with a 6'0 husband. I consider myself just on the short side of normal. But I'm also athletically built, not super-tiny.

Do we have to specify that we mean Americans in this era?

I'm 4'10. My mom is 4'6 and my dad is 6'0. I've always been small I started kindergarden in a 2T. My husband has a cleft lip and when we see people staring we always blame it on each other I've had people ask me where my mom is, assume I'm with a field trip etc. I wear a 5 or 5.5 in shoes and wear kids sneakers. My husband always tells me I have little man syndrome

I'm 5'1" and don't feel very short. Most of my friends are between 5' and 5'5" (tall women are great, too, but I seem to have mostly not-do-tall friends). Not a big deal.

Do you think each generation is getting a little taller because of the better standard of living and food? Or is it the opposite because of the pesticides and pollution?

I'm 5'2 and DH is 6'5...whenever we want to hug at eye level, I stand on a stool. Our toddler is about half my height, a couple years away from reaching my shoe size and will likely surpass me by middle school. I can foresee that by his teens, I'll feel like I'm living in a house of giants. He already tells me that I'm little.

4'11" here. Yeah I'm tiny. Was so excited when I found petite short jeans at Macy's that did not need to be hemmed!!!

4'11" here too, and my son's day care provider is even shorter than me! I feel so odd when I talk to her because I'm not looking up - really not used to that!

The 4'11" PP. I hear ya! I feel like a giant on the rare occasion I'm taller than people!

Agree w/ a couple of PP's. The OP's height is not THAT short.
