I also have a salad.
2 proteins, 1 starch, and 2 veg sides. Thats my usual formula for a dinner party and it always seems to work. |
I agree that you should try to add more veg. I don't count a salad as a veg. |
Agree |
Know any people who got fat on asparagus??? |
USDA gives 6 spears as a serving size for asparagus (approximately .5 cup). |
If you are plating the food, I think three is fine (although I personally think it is skimpy). If people are helping themselves, it will not be enough. |
3 sticks is a garnish, not a side. |
Me too. Also agree that three spears is a garnish. |
Yes, especially if you're having company--for each guest you could serve 3 spears of asparagus, a large piece of lettuce, 1 slice tomato, and perhaps one ounce of baked chicken with a glass of water?! ![]() |
In complete agreement here--sounds perfect! |
Why does this crack me up so much - three pages and 36 responses for a very specific question on how many spears of asparagus are in a serving!! I love it!!! |
Oh, and I think the squash/tomato/pepper thing sounds nauseating. So if I'm the last person in line and there's no asparagus left, it's no veg for me. ![]() If you really can't go back to the store, or have someone else pick some up, can't you at least make a salad? |
Seems we DCUM posters have a lot of extra time and little stress today! ![]() |
5 spears is considered a serving. |
This. And I own a restaurant and this is the portion of asparagus we serve. |
