If you're serving this all plated, I still think at least 5 would be nice. And even if it's just there for people to choose, the first people will put at least 5 on their plates and there won't be any left for the last people (unless there are some folks who hate asparagus, which just might be). I just don't think you can go wrong with having a little extra. |

Are you serious - frankly if this is being plated I think there is too much to begin with unless OP is doing tapas type portion of each. |
Its not plated, its family style. there are 8 adults and 8 kids. |
I'm a vegetarian and I often find that I end up with nothing I can eat, because the people in front of me take what is a reasonable amount, but more than the host planned for. If you don't have any vegetarians, you're probably fine. I might ask your spouse or a really good friend to hold off on taking any asparagus until everyone else has served themselves. |
Ok, then I change my mind. Buffets are tricky bc some greedy person will often take more than they should and some will want seconds so I think that you will have to bit the bullet and get more. Next time skip the buffet |
Are you assuming the kids won't have any? Because a lot of the parents will probably insist the kids put vegetables on their plate, even if they won't eat it. Do you have another vegetable you can add, without going to the store? |

Op, set aside the aparagus for a minute. I think you need more veggies on the table. Your menu seems very meat and carb heavy. |
