Please Explain: Uninsured Republicans?

He may have an economic Nobel prize , cough,,cough. But he would never be able to run Bain Capital because he has no understanding of how the economy runs in reality . He's the kind of guy who gets shot by his own troops. Look at his eyes shifting around like a crazy man and the troubling cadence of his speach. Nobody would ever follow his advice if they had much to lose.

Under the ACA? I hate questions like this. Go research the issue. No wonder people in this country are so misinformed. They are going to ask questions like this to on anonymous forum on the internet rather than research this issue themselves.

But FWIW, this topic (how the ACA provides subsidies for those who can't afford insurance) has been covered over and over again on this board and elsewhere.

Bain Capital is a chop shop. You could replace Mitt with Skip or Buffy and get the same results. Buying a company with a book value of 250 million for 100 million, breaking it up and walking away with 20 million is real hard.

You seriously are kidding, right?? We use the theories of these guys all the time. You are just too dumb to know that, but anyone on wall street does.

Krugman's hourly rate to talk to corporate America is $20K. The private sector has spoken.

We are required to have auto insurance. How is this diffrent from requiring ppl to have health insurance?

The original idea of a mandatory health insurance was Republican! If you don't want taxpayers to pay for sick people and the sick people don't have health insurance, who do you think is going to pay for their care? Why wouldn't you (conservatives) want people to pay for their own health insurance?

I also do not understand the difference. Maybe someone could enlighten us?

I don't know where you live, but not all states require auto insurance.

Please don't even try to pretend that you Republicans are worried about "how the poor hourly worker will afford insurance."

You run the companies that deny hourly workers benefits and keep the minimum wage so low no one can live on it. You don't give a rat's ass about the working poor. You live on their backs. If you cared, you would GIVE THEM EMPLOYER-PAID HEALTH INSURANCE.

Not sure how that matters. The point is that most Americans and their representatives consider it to be perfectly reasonable and legal.

Even states without insurance requirements have other obligations. In MS you have to post a bond in lieu of insurance. In NH you have to prove you are financially capable of paying. VA is the most lenient but even here you have an annual 500 uninsured motorist fee. Any of those restrictions is proportionally more stringent than the ACA penalty, proportional to the cost of purchasing Auto insurance.

Auto insurance applies only if you have a car
Hitch hikers and horse riders do not pay it

On the other hand, hitch hikers and horse riders don't tend to pose a financial risk to others while traveling.

If only the uninsured would not come to Mamma begging to be saved when their life is on the line, I'd be OK with voluntary insurance. But really, who does that?

Nobody has answered OP's question yet, it seems.
