The point is that most Americans and their representatives consider it to be perfectly reasonable and legal. Even states without insurance requirements have other obligations. In MS you have to post a bond in lieu of insurance. In NH you have to prove you are financially capable of paying. VA is the most lenient but even here you have an annual 500 uninsured motorist fee. Any of those restrictions is proportionally more stringent than the ACA penalty, proportional to the cost of purchasing Auto insurance. [/quote]
