If you had a chance to re-do your honeymoon, would you pick a different location?

We will be taking our honeymoon in September -- 2 weeks in Switzerland and France. Hope not to regret it!

we did a weddingmoon in the USVI - got to the island on a thursday night, got married on sunday with 10 guests, then stayed through until the following friday. Wish we had switched islands midway, because by the time our guests left, we were bored on the one we picked.

I would love to go on a lovely trip for our 10th next year, but that is unlikely as we have very little money for such things. UGH

Wouldn't re-do the location, French Polynesia, but would re-do the spouse.

Location was great. would lose the spouse, however.

I'd re-do the honeymoon. We stayed local because I was still in grad school. The bad part was DH had a stomach virus and threw up the entire time.

Well, for starters, I'd take one.

Went to an all inclusive in Playa Del Carmen. It rained six out of seven days we were there, and then we both got food poisening. SUCKED! We realized that we're not all-inclusive resort people. The next year we took a perfect trip for our first anniversary--Napa and San Francisco.

Anonymous wrote:Loved our honeymoon! 25 days split between Rome, Florence, Orvitto, Isla d'Elba, Sienna, and Portugal. Busy but so worth it.

We didn't do a big wedding, (my 2nd marriage, DH's 1st) only about 15 people total

Holy smokes!
What do you and DH do for a living that allowed you to have a 25 day vacation?!?!?!

We also did Bora Bora, and I don't regret that at all. But I wish we had done one week in Bora Bora and one week on another island instead of two weeks in BB.

Nope! We did 3 weeks in Europe in October. 1 week each city. GLORIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got married in August, and it was a hot summer. I kept saying I just didn't want to go anyplace hot, and we also didn't have a ton of money, so we went to Nova Scotia, and drove all around. Very pretty, and we had a great time. Kept saying we'd go back for our ten year, but that wasn't in the cards. Would love to go back someday.

I will say the other thing we kept joking about was how nice people treated you when they found out it was a honeymoon! We thought we should tell everyone on every future vacation it was our honeymoon, but we also speculated that you couldn't really pull it off. There is something different about a honeymoon.

We did one week in St Barth. If we could do it over, I'd love to do two weeks. I was so not ready to leave after only one. Our ten-year anniversary is coming up in three years and we are hoping to go back to celebrate.

Just well planned and we had been saving up for it. We planned our wedding around our honeymoon. We both love to travel and the big wedding did nothing for us, so small wedding fit us perfectly. No jobs out of the ordinary. At the time I was an event planner at a large company and DH worked in IT for an internet company. Married in October when airline tickets were less expensive, purchased tickets way in advance. We didn't spend much on the wedding my dress was a floor sample. $2k dress for $700.

Nope. 15 days in Hawaii was fantastic. We went Sept 1-15 (we were married in July, but had to move DW out of her rental and clean...that was the month of August). Had a friend who owned a condo in a condo hotel on Maui and her wedding gift was to let us stay in her unit for free. So, we spent out money on other things. We bought inter-island plane tickets and after spending 5 days on Maui, we then spent 4 days on the Big Island, 3 on Oahu, and then back for 3 days on Maui. The only thing I would have changed was to skip Oahu. While it was nice, it is very over-commercialized. And we're still looking to get out to Kauai.

One hint for anyone honeymooning in Hawaii. Go the first week or two of September. High season ends Aug 31 and all of the prices dropped a lot after September 1. But everything is still going and available like during high season. So everything was available, but we didn't have the crowds or the lines for anything. It was fantastic going then.
