I listen to them in the car with the windows up. |
Have you seen their documentary PP? I am NOT a Rush fan, but my DH and I were completely captivated. |
NO NO NO AND NO |
Sadly, I have not. But it's in the books - perhaps on a slow weekend. Actually, this weekend is sort of slow! Thanks for the reminder. |

To those listed here, I would add, in no particular order, Huey Lewis and the News (who didn't own Sports), Tears for Fears, Wham, Foreigner, Journey, The Cars, Cyndi Lauuper, The Go Gos, and then there were lots of random one hit wonders songs, many of whom I can't remember who sang (like who sang Life in Northern Town, I loved that song).
I remember the first time I heard GNR Welcome to the Jungle in the theater dressing room after school, and that must have been '87 or '88 and we all crowded around this guy's boombox to listen to it. |
| Oh yeah, love the Beasties, Soulsonic and Public Enemy too. |
|
I graduated in 1988 so it was pre-grunge
Bruce Springsteen U2 10,000 Maniacs REM Def Leopard Van Halen The Dead |
| Everything from Madonna to REM, Van Halen to 10,000 maniacs and everything in between. I just this afternoon realized I still know all the words to "Do Me" by Bell Biv Devoe. "The time was six o'clock, on the swatch watch, no time to chill, got a date, can't be late hey!" |
|
Graduated in '88
Earlier (junior high/freshman): Duran Duran and I'm not ashamed to admit it GoGo's Prince Wham! All those New Romantics like ABC, Spandau Ballet, Naked Eyes, etc Later: Smiths. When I discovered Morrissey it was like a revelation. Never have I taken the Smiths off my playlist. Depeche The Cure Kate Bush In college: Pixies Smashing Pumpkins REM Sonic Youth |
Yes! The J. Geils Band "Centerfold" and Martha whats-her-name was in the video and a VJ |
| 17:31 OMG. Forgot The Cars. And the B-52s! |

Violent Femmes
INXS Public Image Ltd. Also loved Police but that may have been a little before high school The Outfield Kate Bush |
I graduated in 1990 and my first concert (circa 1986 or so) was Jack Wagner.
My musical tastes got better, I swear! |
|
Loved certain singles too like Naked Eyes "Always Something There to Remind Me" and Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart"
anything by Peter Gabriel is up there too really liked Pretty in Pink soundtrack (as well as any movie by John Hughes, may he rest in peace!) |
|
17:31 here again. Forgot Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry. They were a little before my time but somehow I got really into them. Slave to Love and Love is the Drug are so cool.
And while I'm at it, forgot Talking Heads. And Psychedelic Furs. Okay, I'll stop now. Can you tell I still really love 80s music? |
