| OP here: I appreciate everyone's responses, especially those who provided alternative suggestions with names of stores and links. I will check those out. Some of the pp's who wrote in to say the ring looked cheap actually inspired me. Maybe I should try some costume jewelry to get a feel for what I like and what feels right to me and go from there. Those of you who suggest that there are better ways to spend this amount of money have a fair point, too, but I'm okay with where I am. At this point it's theoretical, anyway. Thanks again. |
| It would only be worth the money if there was some way to make sure "Tiffany and Company" was clearly visible while you waved you hand around in front of people's faces. |
OP, you sound very reasonable. I'm glad you weren't insulted by the suggestions about spending your money in other ways. What do you mean by "theoretical?" Is this just a dream purchase? |
How much was your B&S ring? What is it like? |
| Too over the too , more cocktail than every day |
Around $3000. It's a diamond & sapphire band. |
| If the statement you are looking to make is "I wear ugly over-priced jewelry" ...go for it! |
| I agree with the PP who thinks it's too cocktail. |
|
If I were going to spend that much on jewelry, it would probably either be from I. Gorman (if I wanted modern) or an antique/estate jeweler (for some awesome 20s/30s designs).
I agree that Tiffany one looks like costume jewelry. |
| I have to agree with the PPs--I don't think the ring is attractive adn it certainly is absolutely not worth the cost. |
|
I would think it was from Macy's or Claire's to be honest.
10:09 is my hero. |
10:09 here, thank you. I kind of got slammed for my comment, but it just kills me that some people have more money than they know what to do with and some people are literally not getting enough food and are probably cold, among many other problems.... |
Second the I. Gorman suggestion. Unfortunately, I do not like the Tiffany ring for any price. I think the target demographic is Palm Beach retirees in their seventies -- think of the zany neighbor in Something About Mary. |
| 10:09 is my f.ing nightmare. You sound like a ridiculous Occupy Wallstreeter. I have a very expensive engagement ring and never once did I think to myself, maybe we should sell this, get me some $100 band and give the rest to the homeless. Get over yourself 10:09, I am all for giving to charity but this is idiocy. |
| If you want something in between costume and uber-expensive, have you looked at David Yurman? I really like his stuff - both style and price. I think its "fun" to wear and I don't feel showy, but people also know its not fake. |
