It is not derogatory in my book. Its a joke. Get over it.

I grew up on food stamps, going to thrift stores (because we needed to, not because my mom was a hipster) and kmart was luxury. We were truly impoverished. Now, I devote several hours a week to working in soup kitchens. Yet, I think stores for poors is funny. I think the OP of that thread was writing a farce and a send-up of the things we tend to judge here at DCUM. I think the thread was another "Larla."

I understand how some people are upset about this but I really don't think anyone is trying to be cruel or to suggest that we are better than "poors" or "the poors" or just "the poor" or, more respectfully, people living in poverty.

All of these people up in arms over the phrase might feel better just spending some time actually helping those living in poverty. There is more to respecting the "poor" among us than just objecting to a lighthearted remark.

You sound like a foreign.

You know who else was a foreign?

Tears for Fears.

I am not a foreign. I so tired of stupid american like yous.

Do these two know how hilarious they sound? "You sound like a foreign" is the next great DCUMism (after store for poors). Note that it's not making fun of poor people or non-Americans. It's making fun of those who make fun. That's what makes it funny!

The levels of irony are too deep for you I think.

OP, I am sorry that the type of humor the phrase "stores for poors" is lost on you. OBVIOUSLY without ever reading the original posting I get that they are making fun of that attitude (using it ironical sense)

I personally have never had a lot of money and can get offend by insensitive remarks made on this board, but I think the "stores for poors" remark actually makes me feel better about the types of people commenting on this site, they can make fun of that elitist attitude that some posters seem to have.

more corn please...

I thought the face palm would clue her/him in pp, but you're right, our ironic licks are too righteous.

In violent times, you shouldn't have to sell your soul
In black and white, they really really ought to know
Those one track minds that took you for a working boy
Kiss them goodbye, you shouldn't have to jump for joy
You shouldn't have to
Shout, shout, let it all out, these are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on...

Sometimes, there is too much beauty on the internet.

OP here. This is the post that most recently caught my attention, re: returning clothes you'd already worn:
"Maybe if you shop at stores for poors that might be acceptable. But where I shop, it's bizarre to think it's okay that you've worn my $100 shirt a few times."

Not used ironically.

Really? I liked to think it is, but even if it is not do you think posting a new thread about how mean it is will change this poster you have referenced and their attitude? have you been on this site before?

Ha! I wrote that . Total inside joke. A later-on pp got the joke and responded with the hilarious corn retort (more joking). This is all funny stuff. If you don't get it, really, you just don't get it. No need spin off and complain. Just to be clear, the stores for poors is an inside joke, but returning your worn sweaty shirt, that's nasty.

That was a thread of an OP who was returning shoes that her child had outgrown from wearing to Nordstrom. It was gross to even think someone would do that and cheap. Store for Poors being mentioned on that thread was a joke to point out how ridiculous that OP was. PP is right....you just dont get it.
