Kids With Special Needs and Disabilities
And just how are they supposed to know if you don't get it? Perhaps someone forgot to submit the paperwork, perhaps they got your address wrong (we once got someone else's check), perhaps the mailman is hoarding certain letters, perhaps the accounts payable tech is just tossing the vouchers in the trash. There are a million reasons why you might not be getting a check. NIH has come on here and asked that anyone not getting their compensation to contact them. You need to contact them or quit whining. |
Exactly! While it would be nice if that component of the study was more organized, it's not the main thing the researchers are thinking about (they aren't business majors!). If you want the compensation, which you totally have a right to, then just contact them! Sounds pretty simple to me. They aren't out to keep the money. As a researcher myself who has compensated people for studies, sometimes things slip through the cracks and you appreciate being told so you can give people what was promised initially. |
| Seems like this thread has gone off track about compensation in NIH studies, so I'll chime in. We participated in another study and was not compensated. We were told we'd be compensated at the end of the night, and while we finished with the same people we started with, they didn't say anything about money. It's wasn't a big deal to us, but it just makes me think that they do this to draw people in, and only give out when people ask for it. LIke they know exactly what they are doing and try to save some money on their end. I think the part that it doesn't come off as professional bothers me - not the fact that they didn't compensate us. |
