bull shit. He is not patriotic. I pray to God he does not win the pres. race. How scary would that be to have a non-american win the top position in our country. I would rather some uneducated farmer that LOVES his country, would die for his country, win that race. He may call himself an american but not in my eyes. He does not love American. I wonder if will celebrate the 4th? One poster either believes Obama is not American, or the poster is pretending he believes this, or doesn't know what he thinks, or maybe it is a typo. Will the original poster like to correct the claim and remedy his image? Do you know even the definition of the word "love"? Do you mean that he doesn't behave sentimentally and defensively use the "symbols" that you favor? Do you have some information we don't have? It all seems very strange, if not psychotic. AD |
***************************************************** end of quote At times, not only does the US seem to have more than its share of ignorant people, but healthy minded precepts of humility and pride seem reversed. Often, learned people seem the most humble, and ignorant people often seem the most arrogant and bent on influencing others. Let's not go wild suggesting that countries should be run by "ignorant" people, even if they have the "right look, image and personality". Leadership has many complex implications, such as understanding the constitution (and many ignorant Americans do not). The intricacies of each government agency, their potential for good (and unforeseen consequences) and not easy to master. If that is not enough, just consider the intricacies of laws related to nuke proliferation, and the complexities of covert operations of the CIA. And lets keep in mind that many politicians have said (in a survey) that what makes leading more difficult is the ignorance of many Americans. AD |

I wonder if will celebrate the 4th? **** end of quote Remember that the US has frequently celebrated strong traditions of individuality and creativity. In contrast, many American expect others to "snap to attention" when it comes to entirely outward signs and symbols of patriotism. We expect children to 'say the pledge' before they know the words, and to memorize it like a prayer to Christ. Many self-proclaimed 'patriots' seem emotionally upset when one or another symbol or external norm is not conformed to. Instead of outward signs, why not spend time on the many heads of industries that harm traditional values or are related to addiction and societal breakdown. Consider for a moment how superficial and conformist it is to instead focus on a lapel pin. It reminds me of the mentality of children in middle school who focus on where someone bought their shoes or dress, or that someone had big ears or was called fat. AD |
