If you have had a dc in Fairfax K within the past few years

K class size last year for my DS had 24 kids with 1 full time assistant and 2 for special ed kids. The other two K classes had 22 and 23 kids each. It was a fantastic year. Our oldest was in K at a private with 19 kids - 1 teacher and 1 full time assistant. FWIW, I don't think the education was better in the private. I know parents worry about class size, but one of the reasons we moved our kids from private is that the class size was getting progressively smaller (b/c of low enrollement) with each grade. Last year our oldest DS had 21-28 kids in public 3rd grade (depending on the subject) and we never felt that the class size was a negative. Rather, our DS was thrilled to have a larger peer group.

My assessment, it felt like a HUGE class and was probably a bit overwhelming for the kids at first... but the kids get used to it. Overall, our school is simply busting at the seams... K-6 with over 800 kids in a facility built for 500 or so. We have trailers, pods, etc. Rumor has it we are slated for renovation in the next few years... but we'll see.

What school is this? Just curious...that is hugely overcrowded!
