You went to college in DC? So it's not like you're brand new to the area. A bit odd that you'd need guidance like this. You've been posting requests for other information regarding schools, neighborhoods, etc.? Could you give us one or two examples? I'm sorry, so many of us are very skeptical. It does seem like an opportunity for a number of us to respond kindly, giving others a chuckle at the same time. If you are truly genuine, I apologize, and my vote is for the "Rodeo Drive" of DC, which is actually a block or two of stores on Wisconsin Avenue, including Jimmy Choo, Saks, Brooks, Tiffany's, to name a few. |
| I don't think it's all that odd that she doesn't know where to go in DC for high-end shopping. I went to college in Philly, but it was 15+ (ugh!) years ago, and at the time my idea of expensive clothes was full price at the Gap. So I have no idea where the tony shopping is. |
| Good Grief-if OP is shopping at high end stores chances are that she is paying a huge amount of taxes and is already adding to society. Also by patronizing stores she is helping the economy. OP--the board is great for ideas on where to live and how to handle certain child scenarios but it soooooooo much more judgemental than the great majority of people in the dc area. I love living here and I think you will as well. |
Are you really THAT skeptical of this woman that you're asking her for one or two examples of her previous posts re: schools, neighborhoods, etc...? She said she's posted, so leave it alone! And just b/c she went to college here doesn't mean she still knows the area well. If I moved back to my college town I'd have questions about schools, where to live, where to shop, as well. Give her a break! |
This is my last response to this (OP here again). I find it really odd that you're "so skeptical." Why not take me at my word? I've posted at least 7 times about various issues, and I feel no need to give examples. I've also been watching the Special Needs board b/c my daughter has them. I went to college 11 years ago and had NO money at the time. I worked multiple jobs and had a great deal of financial aid/scholarships/loans. I think it's wild that you'd think someone would lie about all this stuff, and really a bummer. |
I will be honest--I saw this and was jealous that you had the money for lavish gifts! I'm not at that place right now (although if you saw the car I drove you would wonder why I was so mad at the posting!) I think I've been very spoiled and normally could buy whatever I wanted but we're having a harder time now with baby and all the costs, etc plus basically one income so it's the first time I have really had to say-maybe I should avoid Starbucks today or get the groceries that are on sale. So picturing you asking where you go to spend hundreds on purses and shoes just struck a cord-sorry! You do sound like a nice person
