Best high-end shopping for women?

Where is the best high-end shopping (clothing, bags, & shoes) in the area? We're moving to the area soon, and I am planning ahead.

Area-wise? Friendship Heights for chains (Gucci, Neimans, etc etc), Georgetown for Boutiques.

Friendship Heights, Wis Ave The Saks is better here than Tysons but the NM at Tyson's is better.

Tyson's Corner Tysons II, the smaller mall across from the big original Tysons. has the higher end stores and dept stores.
On Rte 7 a block or two from Tysons there is a small areas..maybe called Farifax Square... next to a movie theatre that has Hermes, Cartier, Gucci etc.

OP please take a look at the post ("What was a complete waste of money"). I think you'll think again before going to these stores. I was just like you and had to have the very best. The only sensible thing that I did was put together a decent looking wardrobe of good quality clothes and accessories -- which have lasted me for years. Some were from Saks. When my children were younger I didn't have time to think of anything other than put my clothes on and get to work somehow. I always looked good (at least others said I did) -- so it was a good career investment.

I would put some money towards some good purses. I used to buy shoes only from Saks. What a waste. They were totally uncomfortable (Ferragamo and SteveWeizman).

Pardon this low-end shopper here for intruding but don't you mean Stuart Weitzman?

Do you go to Manhattan to shop multiple times a year? I know I'm going to miss stores like Barney's when we move.

Tyson's II -- Nordstrom's, Neiman-Marcus and lots of high-end boutiques.

Where are moving from? It might help to know your frame of reference.

I'll agree with the PPs and put in a vote for Friendship Heights and Tyson's II.

Friendship Heights also has a Filene's Basement and a TJMaxx.....which is where I usually shop when I'm there....although I did buy a wallet on a huge sale from Gucci once!

Freindship Heights/Mazza Gallerie/Chevy Chase area and Georgetown. If you are from NYC you might HATE Tysons. I do. Its so far out, traffic is awful and the malls are so sterile and cheesy.

So glad that you are preparing in advance.

Are you for real?

Some very nice people have responded genuinely, so I hope you're not just entertaining yourself at the expense of others.

I agree with the PP--I mean I read this and went--UGGH! I'm trying to buy inexpensive groceries and this person wants to make sure she knows how to get to Jimmy Choo--annoying!! I mean-it's so obvious where the expensive shops are-hard to miss! But-so many of us are trying to be practical so this thread is interesting!
