Schools and Education General Discussion
What will happen to your sheltered little darlin's when they discover that their public school counterparts are better, stronger, faster and smarter.
|
| You cannot enroll that late in the school year. |
No, but for some parents, the main thing that a public school can provide their child that the parents cannot provide themselves, is a free, supervised location to spend 6 hours of the day (i.e. daycare) |

Great idea OP. If I sent my kids to public school, I'd prefer to have extra students at the beginning and end of school only instead of having those children in the class all year round. Private schools students and parents are burdened twice financially and this is only fair since we are not using the schools. Where I am from, the county recognized the economic benefit the private school parents were providing and provided round trip transportation to reward those families and keep the roads open for commerce. A week here and there sounds reasonable given the alternative of larger classrooms. It would be nice if the privates understood this disparity given the excellent quality of the
public schools. OP, EXCELLENT QUESTION! Please keep us posted! |
| You would be interrupting the education of the other children, possibly interfering with their curriculum and setting them back. That seems pretty selfish to me. |
| If you send your kids to private school and can't afford child care for the couple of weeks that your schools aren't in session, then you CAN"T actually afford private school. Why don't you ask your private school to extend your school year? |
| Why don't you simply have your children commit a crime, turn themselves in, and got to juvie for a couple of weeks. After all, you pay for county jails with your tax money, might as well use them! |

| Great answer!! |
| Well, since public school budgets are adjusted for enrollment, more enrollees should mean more dollars and fewer students for most of the year. Sounds like a win-win scenario to me! |
Yep, some do use public school as a day care. |
| If you can afford private school then you can probably afford $800 in childcare. |
| Yes, you can do this to your kids if you don't care about them or the friends they make. |
| you could enroll your kid in May for the following school year, but you cannot enroll your kid and have it attend the 2 weeks in June |
| I know some who use private school for daycare as parents hop the globe. |
