30 lbs at 10 days past due date
I was at ideal weight before pregnancy and weight came off fairly easily after. The last five pounds wouldn't drop until I weaned. |
|
I gained 30 pounds with each of my three pregnancies.
Losing the weight was a different story. With my first, I wasn't back into my old size (4) until 8 weeks. With my second, I wasn't even out of maternity clothes until 8 weeks, and not back to a 4 until 6 months. With my third, I was back into my pre-pregnancy clothes at - not kidding - 2 weeks. I was under a lot of stress then, however, which I think was probably really bad for my health. |

30 lbs, at 42 w when I delivered. started at 5'2", 115.
Lost 25 lbs in the first couple months, held onto the last 5 until i weaned 15 months later. Lost that and a nother couple and then got pregnant again. It's been a long time since I've looked good in a bathing suit--was hoping to do so this summer, but I'll be wearing my hideous maternity suit instead. |
Thank you, folks, for your baby-weight gain and loss anecdotes! It's just good to hear others' success and struggles.

Ok I think I can beat everyone else with the Fattest Preggo...65 whopping pounds with #1 (including swelling from all the eating out), and about 35 lbs with #2 (because I was running after #1). Both times the weight came right off (after a year, of course)...I am 5'6" and am usually around 142 lbs.
I suspect my nightly habit of ice cream sundaes with #1 contributed to the fattiness...however I did work out right through the third trimester! |

#1 50 pounds
#2 52 pounds #3 55 pounds Lost of all of it pretty easily all three times. Well, the third was hardest, but I was 40. Did WW and worked out a little more. Got back to 135, 5"7'. Have kept it off for 6 years now. |
| PP here - and I BF'd for about 2 years with each kid, which helped a lot I think. |

27 pounds with my twins.
I am on the thinner side and was so worried about preeclmpsia and bedrest that I cut out most sugars, refined carbohydrates, and salt from my diet and only ate fruits, vegetables and simply prepare meats. |
| 42 pounds. And I was 117 lbs, 5'3" to start. |
I can beat you. 75lbs with #1. I had lost approx 15-20 lbs right before I got pregnant by eating 1000 cals a day and working out twice a day, so as soon as I started eating healthier and working out only once a day, I gained approx 10 lbs in a week. Then the swelling began and I got despondent about all the weight I was gaining and just ate whatever I wanted. Then I developed pre-eclampsia and gained an extra 20+ lbs of water weight in the last 3 weeks. Went from 160 pre-preg to 235. I was working out almost the entire pregnancy, including biking to work through my 7th month. Got pregnant with #2 when #1 was only 6 months and I weighed approx 190. Went back up to 230. #2 is now 2 and I am at 180. I work out 5 days a week and eat 90% healthy and cannot seem to drop the weight, even though I am fitting into my old clothing. |
| 40 lbs. Came off like nothing. So much was water weight for me. I was freaking, but it was fine. |
|
22 lbs - I'm very petite, 5', so my ob did not want me to gain too much. Not that I tried to limit how much I gained either.
Went back to within 2 lbs of my pre-pg weight 6 wks after birth. Had a c-section so did nothing but ebf. |

45 with #1. Gained 10 of it in the 1st trimester which was dumb! For some reason thought I was "eating for 2" and went crazy. Made for a very uncomfortable last trimester. 35 of it came off within a few weeks. Getting off the last 10 was hard. Never could get off the last 5 before becoming pregnant again.
With #2 and 3 only 35. Was much more careful at the outset each time and it all came off within a few months without much effort. End of pregnancy so much easier as well without the extra 10 lbs. I could not believe there was that big a difference between gaining 45 and 35 but it was all the difference in the world. |
| #1 gain |
| 15 pounds, but only went to 37 weeks. I was also overweight (by about 30 pounds) when I got pregnant. At 9 months postpartum I'm down 15 pounds on my pre-pregnancy weight (although only down 7 pounds on my "regular" weight; I had gained a bit right before getting pregnant from the holidays and stress of TTC). |
