I'm a FTM, and in my 37th week. I've gained about 38 pounds - wondering how average this is? I know the doctors say you shouldn't gain more than 25-35 pounds, but an informal survey of friends shows most of them gained closer to 50 pounds. How about you?

| 35 lbs on the dot. Gained a bit more than recommended in the first trimester and then was pretty good from there on out. I was of average weight before the pregnancy. I know slim women who gained closer to 50. Coincidentally, I weighed myself today for the first time since delivering 9 months ago and discovered I am exactly my pre-pregnancy weight. |
| 30 with my first, 38 with my second. I had a slim friend gain 60, another who only gained 18, but she has issues with food and exercise and really should have gained more. Most of my friends have gained somewhere between 30-40 pounds. All are slim but not tiny, tiny. |

#1 53lbs
#2 55lbs #3 40lbs #4 70lbs, three years later I still have 30lbs to loose. I was at or near my ideal weight each time I got pregnant. |
| I gained close to 40 pounds with all of the swelling at the end, but 5 months later and I am 8 pounds below prepregnancy weight. I want to lose another 7 pounds or so to be back to my college/comfortable weight. Dont stress about your weighT at this point in your pregnancy. |
| 19 pounds but ONLY because I was sick the entire time. It is really hard to gain weight when you vomit 3 to 10 times a day. Don't stress about it...enjoy the last few weeks of your pregnancy! |

1 - 24lbs
2 - 29lbs 3- 19lbs Overweight when I got pregnant with 3, so I didn't need to put on much. |
| 28 pounds - I was 2 weeks early. Came off super easy too. |
| 40 pounds, and I was small to start with. Came off by 4 months postpartum. |
| I exercise every day, and continued to do so during the pregnancy. I figured I'd be one of those people who gained just the recommended amount of weight. Nope. Gained 54 lbs and came close to cracking the 200 lb mark. I felt like a giant whale. Supposedly I didn't look that bad, though. I told myself that I was like those celebrities who all gained 50+ lbs. 34 lbs came off in the first 3 days (I had a lot of water retention) and then 15 more came off over the next 4-5 months. I still have the last 5, 2.5 years later. |
| 30 lbs not counting all of the water weight from the epidural. Don't worry, you are fine if you were a healthy weight to begin with. I think I even lost weight at the end. |
| 50 lbs with my first, 28 lbs with my second - I'm pretty slim when I'm not pregnant. I think having a toddler around (oh, and no appetite) really helped curb the excessive weight gain with #2. |

50 pounds with number 1, about 55 with number 2. The funny thing was I was the exact same weight at full term with both of them. And I was HUGE at term, there is no getting around that. Two absolutely healthy babies, no gestational diabetes, I just loved eating when pregnant.
With number one, lost all but 7 pounds by about 6 months with little/no effort and stayed put until DD #1 was just past 2 years old and then I put in some effort and I was down about 5 pounds from pre-pregnancy weight by the time she was 2 1/2 and t hen got pregnant again shortly. Following #2, I got back to the same 6 months post partum weight at about 6 months with little/no effort and stayed there until about a 6 weeks ago when I realized DD #2 is nearing 3 and my weight is still on the high side. I am now at my weight pre-second pregnancy and looking to lose another 15 or so pounds to get to a weight I will be happy with. |

#1 - 25
37 weeks with #2 - 23 Don't stress about the weight. About 20 lbs fell off in the first couple of weeks. It's amazing how much fluid build build up happens. |

#1: 26 lbs
#2: 30 lbs As of today, I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight with dc2 (2.5 months postpartum). But I still have another 25 lbs to go before reaching my ideal weight. |
